Kamailio SIP Server v5.8.0 has been released today, March 07, 2024. This is a major release, meaning that it is introducing a consistent number of new features as well as improvements to existing components.

Selected highlights:
* enhanced capabilities for TCP connections and traffic management
* consistent number of commit to the IMS components for building VoLTE/VoNR services
* SIP overload control support for server (RFC7339)
* extensive work for proper integration of libssl3
* connector for InfluxDB allowing to push data from Kamailio configuration file
* alternative internal HTTP server implementation using libmicrohttpd
* new option for cryptography functions using libcrypt as alternative to libssl
* ability to write log message from Kamailio configuration to specific files
* distribution of keepalives from usrloc across an interval of time
* new variables and transformations
* Four (4) new modules
Kamailio 5.8 represents the 26th major public release of the project’s almost 23 years of activity.

There is no change in the database structure used for 5.7.x series that has to be done in order to run same config with 5.8.x series.
