The snmpstats module has a few MIBS included that is based on the entrprise number 27483. OpenSIPS.org has changed the registration for this and now maintains that enterprise number. This might lead to two different mibs with the same OID, which is not a good solution.
Before release, I suggest we get a new assigned enterprise number from IANA for the project and change the MIBS and the snmpstats module. Using the same as OpenSIPS is not a good solution.
http://www.iana.org/assignments/enterprise-numbers says: 27483 OpenSIPS.ORG (previous was 'OpenSER.ORG') Bogdan-Andrei Iancu bogdan.iancu&voice-system.ro /O
Easiest might be to switch to the PEN assigned to iptel.org:
24960 iptel.org Jan Janak jan&iptel.org
maybe this can be updated to sip-router.org as organization. If not, we can apply to get one.
Yeah, we can update it, we only used the OID for LDAP and RADIUS attributes in SER, nothing else.
What do we want to put in? I suggest the sip-router project as organization name and admin@sip-router.org as contact address (that's an email alias that reaches several people from both ser and kamailio groups).
Sounds fine. Thanks!
Also, I would like to suggest that we define subtrees for servers, like
.1 Platforms .1.1 SER .1.2 Kamailio .1.3 Sip-Router
Or doesn't that make sense? The snmpstats module is now only in the k modules. I don't know the reason for that, but if it moves into the core, we can use the OID for the core.
For backwards compatibility, we could implement a config option for OID, so people that has built systems on the old OID can continue as before, and then choose when to switch. I suggest that all the MIB files are updated at the same time so we don't use the tag "openser".
