It is fixed on Solaris/SPARC. I didn't mention the issue in the commit because it
should still be a problem on other big endian architectures. Unfortunately I don't
have a lot of free time right now but it should be an easy fix. Is it ok to keep this
open as a placeholder? I'll take a look time permitting.
