Unlike you, I personally see the other way around. Those working with
the public project and spending resources in developing and promoting
the project, not a private platform based on the project, need something
to use. While any private distro can use a different name and binaries
by MAIN_NAME, the default public one should suggest without confusion
this particular project.

you propose inventing a new name? i would not like to repeat kamailio
ordeal.
anyone can call their binaries whatever they like. you just define
MAIN_NAME. in my opinion, the default in the repository can be
sip-router.
