Yes, but you will have to (re)write quite a bunch of scripts to do it and of course you are welcome to do it :-)
I've tested the way we at sipwise use github as a read-only mirror [0]. And seems easy enough to use it.
Can you, please give me access to the machine that has the git repository in order to configure this? [1]
