I was writing a tutorial, I just sent the email announcing it: http://bit.ly/btrJij In the particular case of SIP Communicator, a user is allowed to see your status when you add it in your body list -- it is when SC updates the pres-rules document. The presence module fetches then the pres-rules xml doc and send presence notification to that user since it was allowed.
