I also run into issues when attempting to nest transformations, i.e.

pseudo: {s.substr,0,$(var{s.len})}

This would be great if we could do such combinations.

sounds good. i had some issue with nested transformations a couple of
months back. perhaps transformations can be made to return the same
kind of value as $vn(name).
