core: improve ARM v6 and ARM v7 atomic operations (branch merge from andrei/armv7)

- improve ARM v6 and ARM v7 atomic operations support in core - this will also fix the swp{b} assembler warning messages on this platform - merged from andrei/armv7 branch (base commit b092c2d10f4672db) - these patches have been already used from some embedded hardware vendors
