Hello,
it is the time to plan a bit the road to the next major release, to be versioned 5.6.0.
The 5.5.0 was release about one year ago, therefore it is time to set the milestones for getting 5.6.0 out.
I would propose to freeze the development on Thursday, April 14, 2020, test till mid of May or so, then release v5.6.0.
There is a lot of development to existing components and a couple of new modules.
If anyone wants a different time line towards 5.6.0, let's discuss and choose the one that suits most of the developers.
Cheers, Daniel
Hello,
a reminder about the plans to freeze development for v5.6.0 next week on April 14, 2022.
If anyone wants to get new features in v5.6.x series, the code has to be pushed or pull requests made till the repository is frozen.
Cheers, Daniel

Hello,
today is the last day to push commits or create pull requests with new features that are going to be part of Kamailio v5.6.x release series. Like the previous cases, to cover properly also the North America time zone, the effective code freezing will be marked tomorrow morning Berlin time by setting the version to 5.6.0-pre0.
After that, only the new modules and existing pull requests can be worked to make them properly usable. After a few weeks of testing (3 or so), the branch 5.6 is going to be created and code frozen on it, going into last testing phase to fix only bugs.
Also, related tools (e.g., kamctl, kamdbctl) can still get updated to work with the new features in the 5.6 release series.
Cheers, Daniel
