Hello,
it is time to make the roadmap to the next major release series v5.7.x. In my opinion, I would try to freeze the development during the first part of April 2023, tentatively proposing April 14 as freezing date, being like 4 weeks from now. Then testing phase and first release (v5.7.0) sometime during May 2023. Alternative timelines can be proposed, of course.
If anyone wants to add new features/modules, they have to be published till freezing date, either pushed in the git repository or proposed as pull request.
Cheers, Daniel
Hello,
I would like to ask to extend the freeze for one week until end of next week (23rd April).
Due to the easter holidays this week and also next week there have been some delays in the merge of the memory allocation error clean-ups and logging refactoring. The work is (almost) done for all the modules, but I would like to merge that with an extended review as it touches most of the modules.
Alternatively, these changes could be also merged after the freeze, as they not changing the behaviour of the modules substantially. But I would prefer the first option. Thank you,
Henning

Hello,
useful and non-intrusive change of the log messages (or adding new ones) is allowed even for stable releases (e.g., to provide more context details to help troubleshooting, or make them coherent). From this point of view, personally I see no reason to postpone freezing one week. As we usually have at least 3 weeks of testing, if the changes to log messages are done during the next week, there will be at least two weeks available for testing them.
Anyhow, if there are more people willing to postpone, then is fine. Otherwise, changing the log messages during freezing time should be ok. Branching does not happen at the freezing time, but at least two weeks later, so there should be no overhead with backporting in this particular case.
Cheers, Daniel

there are 4 new modules:
- app_python3s - app_ruby_proc - math - tls_wolfssl
Not sure if any was included in packaging specs.
