[Serusers] No sound between two end points

Morning all, I currently have SER and SERWEB up and running, and it's working great. Yesterday when I was using it, I was able to call between my softphone on my Winders box to my Asterisk box, and it worked fine. Today I am able to connect in both directions, but I don't get any sound. The Winders box has no firewall up right now to block the RTP port transmission, and I know the Asterisk box is fine as I am able to talk to other people through it. I don't remember changing anything between when it was working, and when it was not working, other than restarting SER as my * box would not register with it for some reason. Restarting SER fixed the registry problem, but now I have no sounds. Any idea's of where I can look to sort out this problem would be appreciated. Also, I am running SER v 0.8.11 on RH9, installed via RPM. Try "siproxd" http://sourceforge.net/projects/siproxd/ Siproxd is an proxy/masquerading daemon for the SIP protocol. It handles registrations of SIP clients on a private IP network and performs rewriting of the SIP message bodies to make SIP connections possible via a masquerading firewall. It allows SIP clients (like kphone, linphone) to work behind an IP masquerading firewall or router. I tried b2bua from Vocal - but I think it does not support NAT traversal yet. Hi, Does SER hold registered SIP clients' addresses? I use DHCP server to address IPaddresses to SIP clients in my small SIP network. Hi, I have some questions about the dbtext module- I loaded the module and have written a text file table with user information in the format specified in the documentation. How do i check whether the table information is being used? the client is Windows messenger 4.7. I get a 404 error when i try to invite a user to start a conversation.Also, the documentation mentions about an API specified by the SER DB interface. Where do i get this API? I cannot administer with serctl now since it does not keep a record of all the users registered, it keeps record only of current user. Hi to all I would like to thank all the people that in this months help me to using ser. I have a question or better a doubt . From june to now I've tried to configure my ser writing ser.cfg file. I've read the admin_guide manual and i learn how to use command and modules, but i don't understend how to write a correct ser.cfg. I try to explain better. A file ser.cfg is executed for received request write to route some request and every one are processed, i can receive PSTN request, REGISTER request or an INVITE. But, what's the order on ser.cfg to process this request? PSTN is more important than SIP request? Outbound request before Inbound? My actual situation is: my pc <--> NAT <--> Sip Proxy <--> NAT <--> Other User (PSTN or SIP) od my pc <--> NAT <--> Sip Proxy <--> Other User (PSTN or SIP) (At the moment i haven't implemented PSTN support on ser.cfg) I actually use this scheme (it's simil;ar than default ser.cfg): - initial sanity checks - record route and loose route processing - process some enc_prefix request - process some private request (sdp_mangler for INVITE request and encode_contact for the other) - if user are from myself (uri == myself), register if is a REGISTER request or lookup and after t_relay - else t_relay outbound request without considering the technical problems, is this the correct semantic to use? Where have I to process PSTN and VoiceMail request? [Serusers] SER Contact rewrite for Softswitch

Hello, we have the following setup in our "Unified Messaging lab": SUAs <-> LAN <-> SER <-> Softswitch <-> PSTN The SER is provisioned as a SIP Server (essentially a SUA) from the Softswich point of view. We have provisioned a number block of 20 numbers (from a 30-channel ISDN PRI) for direct inward dialling (DID) to the SER. E.g. 12345620-12345639 are routed to the SER. On the SER we have a number of users <user>@dai-labor.de, where the first 20 users have an alias of 123456[23][0-9] Each user also has his number added to his permanent contacts to enable (on the cheap) a "call by PSTN if not online" poliy. The aim obviously being to have a 1-1 mapping between URI and allocated telephone number (we are still in the proof-of-concept phase and will move to DNS and ENUM based architecture at a later stage). Scenario 1: OK PSTN user Up calls 12345621 - which is mapped to harry(a)dai-labor.de. If harry(a)dai-labor.de is registered, his SIP UA rings and the call is established. Scenario 2: problem harry(a)dai-labor.de wants to use his UA to place a call through the Softswitch. The Softswitch "authenticates" (if you can call this authentication ;-( by looking at the Contact header and comparing it to its database of numbers assigned to provisioned SIP Servers. I therefore need to be able to specify a rewrite of the Contact header to replace harry@<Contact IP:port> with 12345621@<Contact IP:port> when the callee is of the form <number>@<whatever> I am aware that this would be strictly speaking not proxy but rather B2BUA behaviour, but would still be interested to know whether anyone has a solution to this problem or whether we need to hack one ourselves. Do I have to uninstall version 0.8.10 to upgrade to 0.8.11? I'm using the mysql-module. If I tried to upgrade with an rpm package, but I got dependence problem between ser and ser-mysql module. Anybody have some best practise info?

Folks, I am correct that it is impossible to use uri==myself check along with record_route()? Hi, I am trying to send IM with serweb to Messenger 4.7, but I can't use scandinavian characters. In send_im.php the default set was UTF-8 and I changed it to ISO-8859-1 or ISO-8859-10 but it didn't help. So what should I do to get the serweb accept scandinavian characters?

Hello, I have successfully installed SER 0.8.11 and serweb. There is still one feature in serweb that doesn't work in my installation. That new feature is the possibility to start a SIP-session from the personal phonebook. I have two PCs in the same network and both have Messenger 4.7 clients. When their SIP-addresses in the serwebs phonebook are online and I click the one I want to call to there comes a message "488 Not Acceptable Here". What goes wrong?

Hi Serusers, I am suffering from a weird problem in SER. Maybe you would help me with that. I have SER 0.8.11(TCP Support) on Linux Redhat v9. I am running our SIP user agent emulator against SER in my configuration. SER proxy is sending "FIN, ACK" to the user agent right after the REGISTER (200 OK). Although there is one established TCP connection and a successful registration, SER is terminating the TCP connection. I have also modified the message to reflect the fact that I've learned something in the intervening hours ;-). Tx to anyone who can help. Mike --------------------------------------------------- I am in the process of establishing a SIP-based system using SER which will allow my end users to connect to each other and to dial out to the pstn using a SIP/pstn gateway run by a provider downstream. Some of the users on my system are consultants who work on several projects at once. They would like to prefix the numbers they dial with their own arbitrary 4-digit project codes for different calls and have the accounting I send them show the project code they used for each call. Since my accounting is done downstream at the pstn gateway, and it shows the username for each call, I would like to change the username on each of the calls going out of my SER to include the project code. Then no changes would need to be made in the billing software and each call will be easy to identify as to user and project. I believe that the username which shows up in the billing comes from the FROM field that is transmitted for the call from my SIP, so that is the value I need to change (ie. the value of the environment variable SIP_HF_FROM). Of course the project code would get stripped off the uri itself so that just the correct uri is sent, and I have figured out how to do that using the strip function. But I am new to SER and just figuring my way through this, so I need a bit of help with the rest of it. Here is an example of what I want to set up. If user Mike wishes to call 1-111-1111 and wants to code it to project 1234, he would dial: *123411111111(a)wherever.com and the outgoing uri would be just: 11111111(a)wherever.com (this is done using strip) The FROM value generated would be something like: Mike SER <SIP:Mike@here.com:5060 >;tag=xxxxxxxxxx and I need to change it to include the original name+project code: Mike1234 SER <SIP:Mike@here.com:5060 >;tag=xxxxxxxxxx Note: the asterisk in the dial string just indicates that a project code follows. Not all users will want this feature and calls without an asterisk will be handled differently. If I can do the last part (change the outgoing FROM to mike1234) I'll have it cracked. It would be best to do this within SER, but I don't see a way to do it. If there is a way, please let me know. So then it seems to me that the best thing might be to use the exec_dst command to pass a set of commands to the shell would cause characters 2 through 5 of SIP_ORURI (in this example 1234) to be inserted into SIP_HF_FROM. So something like: EXPORT SIP__HF_FROM=first_part_of_SIP_HF_FROM+(characters 2-5 of SIP_ORURI)+last_part_of_SIP_HF_FROM ...... Obviously my bash-knowledge needs a bit of work here ;-) If this would work, can someone tell me the shell commands to use? I am not concerned with the exact logic of how to separate the first and last parts of the FROM field as I am in understanding how to tell the shell to modify the environmental variables so that when control returns to SER it will have the correct values. Alternatively, what about calling a small executable that reads the appropriate environment variables and changes the value of $SIP_USER before returning to SER? I had at first thought this might be the simplest way to do it, but now I understand that when a program modifies an environment variable the variable returns to its original value when the child process ends. If that is correct, then SER would never see the change. Note that I'm aware that it would be easier to do this accounting on my own SER system, where I could pick off the appropriate information. However, since the pstn gateway at the next hop does the official accounting and billing, I want the billing it produces to include the project codes, and I think the easiest way to do this is for me to modify the outgoing FROM. I have been working away at this, starting from zero knowledge of Linux, but I've come about as far as I can get. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Mike

I had a problem that was in the URL. The email sent a message containing the url ~~/user/my_account.php. [Serusers] SER on Dual Honed Machine Bug ?

Hello List, I am running SER (0.8.11) on a machine that has two network interfaces. On one interface I have a 192.168.1.0/24 network (internal network) and the other one is the public interface. SER is working as a registrar and as a proxy. When a UA on the private network sends a SUBSCRIBE message to a UA on the outside via the SER proxy (listening on 192.168.1.1), the packet received by other UA has the 192.168.1.1 layer 3 address. So it means that SER is using the internal interface address as the layer 3 source address when sending packets through the external interface. Is this a known bug? (NAT on the machine is working fine. I am using redhat 9, kernel 2.4.21) Is there any way to change/replace/manipulate the VIA header like you can do with the URI's? Sorry am very new to SER and am trying to read as much as I can. Any feedback will be greately appreciated. Thank you Daniel. I have installed the 0.8.11 version. The SER is running and I am able to see the various processes. I am having the following problems: 1. I tried to register my SIP SJ client to the server and on running ethereal I found that the REGISTER packet was directed to 208.27.83.140 by SER. And so my user registration was timing out. Shouldn't SIP SER do the registration? 2. I made the changes as per HOWTOs for Serweb. Unfortunately, I have not been able to run serweb. The document HOWTOs mentioned changes with respect to RH Linux 8.0 and I was using 7.3. The directory '/usr/www/html' didn't contain a directory 'htdoc' but only 'htdig'. I assumed that htdoc meant htdig and made the same changes. But I am not able to launch serweb? Could someone please let me know how to start serweb and why my registrations are being forwarded by SER to some other IP? I intend to run SER at first with mySql. [Serusers] A couple of initial problems with SER

Good day all, I have attempted to search through the archives before posting here, but alas, I have been unable to find the answers. If there are websites or links that would help me with finding the answers to my questions, those would be great as well. I am mostly having problems related with my_account.php (or at least that is what is being accessed when things fail). I can create a new account, and it emails me the confirmation link fine, but when I go to click on the link, it just hangs in the browser with "Web site found. Waiting for reply..." It never actually errors out (at least not for the last 5-10 minutes while I've registered and sent this email). The other problem I have is in the admin interface. If I click on "Account" then it ends up doing the same thing. It attempts to connect to the my_account.php script, but just hangs (doesn't even seem to timeout) If there is somewhere I can check logs and stuff, that would also be great.
