In the ser.cfg I have set "advertised_address=123.123.123.123".
This address is then applied to the added Via headers. However, added
record-route headers still come the adapter address. I would expect
the advertised_address to be used in the record-route as well. The
problem can be overcome with the
record_route_preset("123.123.123.123") function.
Is this by design?
Martin.
Hi!
I'm using different kinds of hard-UAs, among them the Grandstream BT-101
and Siemens optiPoint 400 standard SIP.
Grandstream sends the following rtpmaps out to the other party:
<snip>
a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000/3
a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000/3
a=rtpmap:4 G723/8000/3
a=rtpmap:18 G729/8000/3
a=rtpmap:2 G726-32/8000/3
a=rtpmap:15 G728/8000/3
a=rtpmap:99 iLBC/8000/3
a=fmtp:99 mode=20
a=rtpmap:9 G722/8000/3
</snip>
and the Siemens phone always states "user agent incompatible" - seems as
if its complaing about the appended "/3" of every rtpmap. Regarding the
RFC the third parameter states the count of channels (?).
With other UAs (XLite, Sipura) audio connection is possible.
Anyway is there a possibility to correct this problem using ser? Can I
issue a command that removes every /3 from the rtpmaps coming from th
Grandstream phone?

Hi ALex,
I am using the publicly available IPtel.org proxy server(195.37.77.99). The
ALG is not coming into the picture when a call is initiated from
HOST2(external). The SIP packets are not coming to the NAT device when a
call is initiated from HOST2. The proxy server itself is sending,
" 477 Unfortunately error on sending to next hop occurred(477/TM)" SIP
message back to HOST2. So looks like some issue in the Proxy. Could you let
me know the possible reason.
Thanks
Mahesh
Mahesh,
Most likely problem is that your ALG closes the translation port on
inactivity. If you are using cisco pix as an ALG, there is a way to adjust
inactivity timeout. I would also suggest getting the most recent version of
software.
Hope this helps
Alex

Subject: [Serusers] SIP 477 error when registered with TCP
Hi all,
I am using the following network configuration.
HOST1---NAT---Internet---HOST2
HOST1 and HOST2 are windows XP machines with SJPhone software. The NAT box
has SIP ALG(Application Level Gateway), which modifies the SIP packets to
replace the Private IP address with the Public IP address.
I am registering with iptel.org proxy server using TCP from both the
machines. I am able to make a call from HOST1 to HOST2. But when i try to
make a call from HOST2 to HOST1, i get an error which says, "477
Unfortunately error on sending to next hop occurred(477/TM)". When I
register using UDP, then i do not see this problem. Could someone tell me
what I am missing here.
Thanks
Mahesh
hi
i'm winda i'm a student and my final project is SER.
i have build ser.
i used ser 0.8.14 from
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/ser/0.8.14/
this SER have run in local network. now i am going to establish ser on public netwok.
i have read the milist seruser that solutions for handle firewall and nat problem are rtp proxy or media proxy.
now i'm trying media proxy.i use media proxy 1.2.1 from http://mediaproxy.ag-projects.com/mediaproxy1.2.1.tar.gz.
with python2.3.3.
right now my media proxy can run. so the next step is to configure ser.cfg that compatible to media proxy.
i have try to add some script to ser.cfg, but there is some error. can you help me to tell me the solution or
can you give me your ser.cfg that can run for media proxy, so SER can across firewall and nat.
thanks for help.
