Hello,
We're an ip-telephony operator in Sweden (www.wx3.se) , and we're looking
for a platform which can help us undertake pre-paid billing of IP-telephony
users.
We have ourselves a processing platform for CDRs, but we don't have a
registrar/proxy (rtp-handling) / voice messaging (potentially asterisk)
which can make us support pre-paid services.
What we need is a platform which can make a request (including call details)
to a billing system, and continue the call set-up if the response is
positive. As the call is ongoing, the system will periodically continue to
ask the billing system if the call can continue (for another 60 secs, for
example). If the call cannot continue any longer, the call will be "taken
down".
If a caller call, and there is not enough money on the account, the billing
system will return with a negative response and a sip-url, the caller should
be directed to the sip-url - which belongs to a voice-mail system, in which
the appropriate response will be played.
So my question is: Can SER - possibly with support of RTP Router : to have
control of RTP-flow / call-redirection - support these requirements.
Br,
Terje Myhre

t_write_req appeared in SER version 0.9, in 0.8.12 it had another sintax, which I don't remember now...take a look at older posts or the tm module interface to find it out..

Hi all, in the SER-SEMS-HOWTO, the next paragraph appears:
Redirecting the messages is a very simple operation. You just have to call the t_write_unix() (or t_write_req()) function from the 'tm' module, which you have to load.
In ser.cfg routing:
t_write_req("/tmp/am_fifo", "voicemail")
But in my tm module (SER 0.8.14), t_write_req doesn't appear, and so if I add that line I get an error of configuration.
What's wrong with this? Please help,
Llanos
Simply because it allows you then to use SER to terminate to them, and
they then handoff the traffic, also you only need to open an account at
one place, and billing is easier....Having said that I dont use them, I
merely tested with them. Having said that it all depends on your setup,
and exactly what it is you are trying to do, if you are happy with one
endpoint, do it that way, tie up tightly with them, you see each gateway
will have its own quirks, or have your own gateways, it depends on how
flexibile you wish to be.

If you use the exact config file from onsip.org, you should have no
problems. I have seen your other posts where people indicate that you have a
problem with the DB, which is what these errors tell you:
Jun 3 11:39:51 serveur1 /usr/sbin/ser[4299]:
bind_dbmod: Module sql does not export db_use_table
function
Jun 3 11:39:51 serveur1 /usr/sbin/ser[4299]: ERROR:
group_db_bind: unable to bind to the database module
Jun 3 11:39:51 serveur1 /usr/sbin/ser[4299]:
init_mod(): Error while initializing module group
You may have discrepencies between ser version and modules. Make sure you
delete the full binary tree and do make proper before compiling new
versions. This way you will know that the modules match the ser version.
