Via header force change protocol to TLS?

I have kamailio behind a TLS termination proxy so the sockets are correctly deduced to be TCP. However the clients only talk TLS to the proxy and are confused when the top Via header added by Kamailio is TCP. Is there a way for Kamailio to forcibly pretend its protocol is TLS? Like advertised_address but "advertised_protocol" instead. (With pjsip testing: it has a flag use_tls which ignores TCP from Kamailio and continues to use the persistent TLS transport to proxy. Linphone fails because it tries to honor TCP in Via and is unable to establish TCP transport). BTW I am using t_relay_to_tcp so Kamailio will return traffic to the proxy as TCP even though the contact addresses specify transport=TLS.

Dialog and DMQ on restart

Hi everybody, I'm just testing Kamailio 5.4.1 with dialog replication over DMQ. This seems to work very good. Dialogs are replicated without problems. When I'm restarting one node I would have expected, that all dialogs are synced again, just like in dmq_usrloc. But this does not happen. After a restart the nodes dialog-list is empty. Did I miss somethin? Is there a special parameter that I have to set? Is Min-SE check broken?

Hi All, I am facing an issue in understanding how the min_se should be working in kamailio. As per the SST documentation, it seems like if the min_se is configured as 500, then any value of Session-Expires OR MIN-SE if lower than 500, can be responded to by a 422. However, I strangely see the reverse happening. To investigate further, I looked in to the ki_sst_check_min() code in the master, and these seems like a potential issue. Ref Code: Inside ki_sst_check_min(), there is an if condition like below: if (sst_min_se < MIN(minse, se.interval)) { However, shouldn't it be the other way around? ie if (sst_min_se > MIN(minse, se.interval)) { because we need to send 422 if the received value(in INVITE etc) is smaller than the sst configure min_se value? I also found a different documentation, at https://git.sgu.ru/oldssu/ex-opensips/blob/cb9df8d59dbb254a9d862569fd5d11f6… where the check is as below? if (sst_min_se > MIN(minse, se.interval)) { Can someone confirm if this is broken, or my understanding is incorrect? Possibility of mirroring the rpm/deb.kamailio.org repos efficiently via rsync?

Hello, is there an rsync endpoint available or is there a possiblity of setting this up? Creating a mirror via HTTP is a rather quick and dirty solution and while the deb-repo can be mirrored using debmirror, the rpm repo is hard to sync to a non-CentOS-based machine due to missing dependencies such as yum and reposync in latest Debian-based systems. Would be great to get some input in regards to this topic. Cheers

Experiences with Kamailio on Debian 11 Bullseye

Hello, has anyone experienced issues with Kamailio running on Debian 11 Bullseye? It's now more than 2 months since Debian 11 release and I wonder if people started to migrate to it for production systems. So far I did only basic tests on it, although I have a Debian Testing that I used for compilation and simple tests during the past several months before Debian 11 release. If someone discovers issues or changes in behaviour with various libraries or applications/database servers, report them to the tracker to try to address them as soon as possible. Hi. I'm looking for a solution to the following problem, and wondering whether Kamailio (with which I have very little experience so far) may be it, or whether I'm thinking in totally the wrong direction. The problem: I have a SIP client application which runs on a standard Linux system, and is extremely basic - it can REGISTER in order to receive inbound calls, and it can send INVITEs in order to place outbound calls, and that's about it. It handles media as well - in essence, it's a simple softphone. I can't change it for a more capable one, before anyone suggests that :) Specifically, this thing cannot send REINVITEs in order to put calls on hold, nor can it handle anything to do with transfers (blind or attended). I'm looking for something which does have these SIP capabilities which I could put in between this application and the SIP server through which it is placing and receiving calls, so that I can (through some sort of API) cause calls in progress to be put on hold, resumed, blind transferred, or hold-and-attended- transferred. Does that sound like something Kamailio can do? If so, can anyone point me in a helpful direction re how to go about it? If not, can anyone suggest something else which could sit in between a very basic SIP client and a PBX server, in order to inject these sorts of commands into the path and thereby give me these sorts of extra call capabilities? Strip VP8 from SDP in rtpengine

Hello, I'm facing trouble with Android 12 using webview to attempt video call. All the media is rotated from rtpengine. To workaround this problem, I wish to strip VP8 and have the calls run on VP9. For this, I added "codec-strip=VP8" but rtpengine is not able to remove it. I've even tried "codec-strip=VP8/90000" but to no avail. The video is still garbled. Am I doing anything wrong here? The rest of them are pretty clear, but I'm having troubles with these and can't get them working like I would expect them to work. Configuration script behaviour with http_async_client usage

Hi, I'm new in Kamailio and looking for some configuration guidance. I'm using http_async_client for API requests. It's configured to use TEST2 route, which should be executed upon reception of HTTPS response. After receiving the response I would like to go back to the request_route and perform some more actions. Currently behaviour is, in the syslog I can see only entries which I push from TEST2 route (TEST 123). Cannot see the one from request route. Hello Henning, Thanks for your reply ! For the record, I'm using Kamailio module "flatstore" with the flush deactivated. In this situation, when Kamailio is stopped, I'm losing the remaining data in files not yet flushed. So my idea was, when destroy is called, to iterate over the connection pools, and flush/close all the opened files properly. Most modules do not need it, as the data is in shared memory, processes are started over standard kamailio APIs which will be stopped from the core automatically, to give some background. Some modules do it by just iterating over an internal list of their children and then do the cleanup task. You can find an example in cdp module (destroy, diameter_peer_destroy). Does failure_route for redirection covers all error cases ?

Hello, We are routing calls to FreeSWITCH servers. We have a failure routing mechanism in place, which looks pretty common from my research around: route[INVITE] { ... t_on_failure("REROUTE"); and failure_route[REROUTE] { if (t_is_canceled()) { exit; } // also 6xx ? if (t_check_status("5[0-9][0-9]") or (t_branch_timeout() and !t_branch_replied())) { // re-route to another available FreeSWITCH server } } The problem is that we don't capture all the failures we would like to, one such example being 480 sent by FreeSWITCH in various cases (even default in hangup_cause_to_sip, mod_sofia.c, https://github.com/signalwire/freeswitch/blob/master/src/mod/endpoints/mod_…), like a Python script crash, but also legitimate cases like "user not registered" (USER_NOT_REGISTERED). Are there other cases? Like a timeout replied (t_branch_timeout() and t_branch_replied()) which never recovers ? Shouldn't any t_branch_timeout() re-arm the failure route ? Thanks, Liviu

t_relay changing source IP?

So we have a box that's bound to all interfaces on the server, and one specific IP address (that is an HA IP), and I've run into a bit of an odd behavior that I cannot explain. For 99.9999% of our traffic, the invites come into the HA IP, and then are forwareded out the HA IP to an SBC for further processing. In a very rare instance however, I have found that there is an invite coming in the HA IP, and for some unknown reason it gets forwarded out the *interface* ip instead of the HA IP. For example: Working: 1.2.3.4 -- invite --> 9.8.7.6 (ha IP) -- invite --> 5.6.7.8 (sbc) Non working: 1.2.3.4 -- invite --> 9.8.7.6 (ha IP) *something happens here* 9.8.7.5 (interface IP) -- invite --> 5.6.7.8 (sbc) I've been through tm, tmx, and the incoming invite of a working and non working request with a fine toothed comb and I cannot for the life of me explain this behavior. Any thoughts? Use constants in attrs column of the dispatcher module

Hello all, I’ve a question regarding the dispatcher module. So far we use on every server a separate database table, where the attribute column is set to the local internal or external socket like "socket=udp:192.168.1.70:5060“ or socket=udp:80.239.xxx.xxx:5060. Is there a way to use constants here like socket=udp:IPADDR_INTERN:5060 or socket=udp:IPADDR_EXTERN:5060 which are replaced when the data is loaded from the DB? Thanks and regards Markus

Kamailio/Asterisk Realtime issues

Hi all, I have Kamailio and Asterisk set up in a realtime configuration, like this: https://kb.asipto.com/asterisk:realtime:kamailio-4.0.x-asterisk-11.3.0-astdb In my setup, Kamailio forwards all REGISTER requests to Asterisk, and Asterisk authenticates them. I have a single peer in sip.conf pointing towards the Kamailio server, as type=peer Each user in the Asterisk database is set to type=user, as when they are set to anything else (or blank), incoming calls from Kamailio to Asterisk display the name of the most recent extension to register. Is there something wrong with my setup here? What I am trying to do is to get MWI working. SUBSCRIBEs for MWI are forwarded to and handled by Asterisk correctly. Yet the MWI state on the handset is incorrect, as I believe it is sending the latest MWI update to the most recently registered extension. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I assume I'm doing this the wrong way and shouldn't be forwarding any REGISTERs to Asterisk and should be handling authentication in Kamailio itself? But that seems incompatible with the realtime configuration guides I've seen. Thank you, Hayden

Hello, not strictly related to Kamailio, but I know a large number of its deployments run with MariaDB. Be aware of a (pretty high) risk of failure after upgrading MariaDB server to v10.3.31, which comes now on Debian 10 via the usual apt update+upgrade. I was hit on one the servers I upgraded recently, first one worked fine, the 2nd failed to start MariaDB service after upgrade - there is a bug report about it: * https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg1823336.h… Downgrading MariaDB seems to be the right solution for now, specially if you didn't do a backup just before upgrade. Don't try other tricks without a fresh backup, data files can be damaged. If you have a fresh backup, there seems to be a solution by deleting database files to start with a clean set and then restore from backup with sql statements. FreeBSD has a similar bug report, so doesn't seem to be only Debian, could be other Linux distros as well. Even with fresh backups, plan for a longer maintenance time frame than usual.
