Kamailio Load Balancer Architecture

I am interested in opinions and suggestions about load balancing with Kamailio. I work for an ITSP that currently uses Oracle & Broadsoft, and I am working to design and develop an open source solution using Kamailio (Proxy, Registrar, LB) & other Application/Media servers for more flexibility and freedom :) Thank you ALL for the work you have put in on Kamailio! After much reading and configuration I have a Kamailio 'proxy' setup, with endpoints registered using the Registrar module, and calls being sent/received to/from the PSTN. I am interested in separating the Load Balancers from the Registrars & logic, for security and in order to be able to scale appropriately. I will be using the dispatcher module for both load balancers and proxies using the following architecture: PublicIP = 5.5.5.5; Private IP = 192.168.1.0/24 USERS (Public Internet) ==> (public: 5.5.5.5) [ Kamailio (LoadBalancer, Firewall, Sanity Checks) ] (core:192.168.1.2) ==> [ Kamailio Registrar, Proxy, PSTN GW ] ==> AppServers or PSTN GW (we can access our PSTN gateways Via our Core using Private IPs) Questions: 1) Is it overkill to separate the LB & Proxy/Registrars? 2) Is this a common architecture & anyone configured this architecture successfully? Kamailio v4.3.6 Released

Hello, Kamailio SIP Server v4.3.6 stable release is out. This is a maintenance release of the previous stable branch, 4.3, that includes fixes since release of v4.3.5. There is no change to database schema or configuration language structure that you have to do on installations of v4.3.x. Deployments running previous v4.x.x versions are strongly recommended to be upgraded to v4.3.6 (or to 4.4.x series). Releasing Kamailio v4.3.6

Hello, as announced last week, I am planning to release a patch update from branch 4.3, respectively v4.3.6, tomorrow. Today I backported what I found to be relevant from branch 4.4 to 4.3. ipsec support in PCSCF

Hi All, I did not get any concrete information on whether PCSCF supports transport mode ipsec in Kamailio release 4.4. It is mentioned that it is not supported in release 4.0. Could anyone please let me know the status on this? Thanks, Vikram

rtpengine allow_op problem

hello all i have been taking a look to the rtpengine.c code and i found that the issue has relation with the queried_nodes_limit which had 50 defalut value, so before it was reached in the loop, we received a request/response retransmision doing all the same. anycase, the issue it's because when allow_op is applied, the select_rtpp_node gets a node even having the node disabled by the first attemp (having the rtpengine node down), and it does the loop. if it's not applied, we dont get a node at the retry. but adjusting the number of queried_nodes_limit to a value to be reached before a request retransmission arrives, i guess it should be enough (¿?) best regards david escartin

Hi, I am testing on CentOS 6.6 x86.64 kamailio-4.3.5 postgresql-9.4.6 pgpool-II-pg94-3.5.2 When I using floating IP as 192.168.192.143 that kamailio is working. But I could not access to psql -h 192.168.192.143 -p 9999 -U postgres asterisk. Let me know if you have this issue with much appriciated. rtpengine allow_op problem

hello all i have observed an issue using this parameter, which is useful in case you deactivate a node from the rtpengine sets, to let the calls to finish the negotiation. but i have tested that if a node fails down in the middle of a call, with that option activated, the kamailio gets blocked waiting until the rtpengine node is again up, to finish handling with the BYE request for instance. Hi, Found a error in the documentation of the DMQ module (http://kamailio.org/docs/modules/devel/modules/dmq.html#dmq.p.num_workers). In the documentation there is a example: modparam("dmq", "num_threads", 4) If i'm correct this should be: modparam("dmq", "num_workers", 4) Thanks, Jan
