Hi Jiri! I've captured and analyzed those SIP message dumps. I found that when Sjphone A sent a NOTIFY signal to the SER (after Sjphone A accepted the REFER), SER didn't pass the NOTIFY to the SPA942 to terminate the call between them. Therefore, Sjphone A unable to INVITE Sjphone B to bridge up the connection. May I know what causes this? Thanks for your precious time and reply! [Serusers] RTPProxy question

Hi all, I have a few unclarified questions in my head about RTPProxy. I think I know the basic concept, but I'm curious to know a few details. How does the proxy transfer the packets from A to B ? When it gets a packet from A, does it send it immediately to B (when its possible) without any delay or timing ? Or does it have a buffer (few ms buffer), where it re-orders the packets ? Does it parse the RTP stream ? Does it generate RTCP packets ? Can somebody help me in this ? Thanks, Mitya

Hi, user_A with STUN calls to user_B behind NAT with no STUN. onreply_route[1] { if (nat_uac_test("1")) fix_nated_contact(); if (isbflagset(6) && status=~"(180)|(183)|2[0-9][0-9]") force_rtp_proxy("l"); } In the initial request bflag(6) is up because "location" of user_B so RtpProxy is used in the INVITE and 200-OK. But in re-INVITE bflag(6) is down and is not applied force_rtp_proxy("l"); in the 200-OK. [Serusers] SER 0.9.6 and MySQL connection failed

Hi all, I'm running SER 0.9.6 on a Debian Etch, compiled it from source, using etch's libmysqlclient5 to connect a mysql server 5.0.20 (running on a different server, but on the same LAN) >From my ser.cfg: modparam("usrloc", "db_mode", 1) modparam("usrloc", "timer_interval", 10) modparam("usrloc", "use_domain", 1) modparam("usrloc", "db_url", "mysql://ser:xxxxx@x.x.x.x:3306/ser") When I start SER, everything seems to be fine for a while. After about one day, when I unplug my UAC and the registration expires, SER can not remove it from the database because it says: Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: Binding '1111111(a)1.2.3.4','sip:1111111@2.3.4.5:1164' has expired Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: submit_query(): mysql_ping failed Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: submit_query(): MySQL server has gone away Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: db_delete: Error while submitting query Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: db_del_ucontact(): Error while deleting from database Oct 18 14:47:07 sip ser[21813]: wt_timer(): Error while deleting contact from database If I restart SER, everything works fine (for a while) again. I'm sure that _NO_ONE_ was restarted the MySQL server during the test period. I can reproduce it at any time. Is it a known issue, or do I have a special case ? Every comments are welcome. no, it is saying that "sip:alice;day=<mailto:tuesday@atlanta.com>tuesday(a)atlanta.com" is the username (consistiing of semicolon, equal sign, etc.) A strange but a valid one. The only deficit to my knowledge is not expanding % escapes. But I want to implement below call flow, that Bob has to Send the REFER method To Media Server ( Asterisk ). But I Don't want this ( Alice --invite_bob---> OpenSER ---- invite_bob-->Asterisk-----invite_bob---> openser---> Bob ) this scenario will work .. That User Agent has to send the REFER method to OpenSER Proxy through --> Asterisk. Hi, According to rfc 3261: 19.1.3 Example SIP and SIPS URI sip:alice;day=tuesday@atlanta.com The last sample URI above has a user field value of "alice;day=tuesday". The escaping rules defined above allow a semicolon to appear unescaped in this field. For the purposes of this protocol, the field is opaque. The structure of that value is only useful to the SIP element responsible for the resource. in such case shouldn't the lookup_user($tu.uid, @ruri) method analyze only the username part before semicolon for the lookup?? Hi, try telnet to be sure if no one is listening on that port. [root@XXXXX]# telnet yourhost 8000 if you are not running openxcap in debug mode, check out the messages to see if your xcap server is really not listening. Later on just set up the Root URI properly on both, the server and your client. Hi, guys... I'm starting to move my config from a MySQL based one to a Radius one. The AVP are the challenge. Authentication works fine but 'callee' AVP recovery don't. I'm getting "rc_auth failure" and 'caller' AVPs instead of 'callee' AVPs. But I'd like "branch_route[1]" is runned after "branch_route[3]" but think is not possible, so I must copy&paste the "branch_route[1]" code at the end of "branch_route[3]". Is it? [OpenSER-Users] OpenXcap fails to start the HTTP on port

Hi all. Finally (buff!!) I could configure openXcap, after executing openxcap start the log says: [-] Log opened. [-] Starting Open XCAP 0.9.4 [-] Supported Root URIs: http://192.168.1.206 [-] twisted.web2.channel.http.HTTPFactory starting on 8000 And nothing else, no more logs displayed. OpenXcap process is running in the machine: [root@XXXXX]# ps -ef|grep xcap root 926 1 0 18:02 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/python /etc/rc.d/init.d/openxcap start But no one is listening in port 8000, neither before executing xcap nor after. I haven´t found any error in any log so I dont know what is going on. Anyone can help me? Thanks. Gregorio

Hello Inaki, I wasn't aware of this parameter and I am using the deault (matching contact only). However this does not aswer my question. Sipsak has a default expires of 15 sec for the registration. I run sipsak every 2 minutes. So every time that sipsak runs, Openser should not find any valid entries in usrloc. Also note that I am using the default cseq_delay which is 20 sec. Hi all, I tried to implement redundancy with SRV records configured with different priority and same weight. If I register the client on the first proxy and then I stop OpenSER on it, the client continues to send requests to the first proxy. If I am not using a failure_route to catch failed responses to transactional events, but have an onreply_route, does that guarantee that *all* failures will be caught by the onreply_route without being diverted and muffled somewhere? Hi, I've a multidomain OpenSer and I want to allow REFER (with authenticacion before) just in calls between users of same domain, but it's quite complex: - userA(a)domainA.com INVITE's userB(a)domainB.com. - During the call userA(a)domainA.com does an in-dialog REFER. Because the REFER is in-dialog the message is like: -------------------- REFER sip:userB@80.98.123.23:5060 SIP/2.0 From: sip:userA@domainA.com To: userB(a)domainB.com Refer-To: ... ... -------------------- How can my OpenSer know which domain this REFER goes? of course the "To" header is not valid at all. Could be a solution a SQL query to "location" table looking for the URI (sip:userB@80.98.123.23:5060) and getting the username and domain of this? Any other option? Hi, in order to not apply RtpPrxy if the called is an Asterisk (that supports "comedia") I load "usr_preferences" table looking for "pbx_comedia" attribute for called domain. If it's, then it's created a avp: avp(s:pbx_comedia)="yes". But when I try to test this AVP in the "on_reply_route" (to not apply RtpProxy) this AVP has null value. Hi all. I am using openSer 1.3 with mySQL. My problem is that although registration is fast in SIP protocol terms, the contact binding is written in the 'location' table long time after this contact has received a 200 OK to his registration. So a user could think that he is registered before he is in the data base. Could it be a configuration issue? Can I solve this? Thanks! Hello all. Upgrading my OpenSER trunk version from Rel. 2404 to 2920 I encounter problems using the PUA and PUA_MI module. I control the PUA via management interface. In the old version, I could update my presence information and also the non-expiration worked finally. Furthermore, expiring states with Expires: 0 worked as well. After upgrading to the new SVN version, the update does not work anymore. Hi Mik, When I faced these problems with openser and DBI, I did a research, and if I remember it correctly, DBD::Sybase does not work correctly with output parameters. So one solution I guess would be you rewrite your procedure so that the parameter is only input and return the same parameter in a result set inside the procedure. That was one thing I had to do when I switched from DBD::ODBC to DBD::Sybase, as I had also some procedures with output parameters. After I rewrote the procedures and returned the output parameters as result sets I had no problems with this. I had been using 'perl_exec' in my scripts with great success until I decided to try using it in the onreply_route. The strangest thing now happens; I use my perl script to write information to a database, and it seems like the failure would have to be in DBI, but it only occurs in Openser. I execute a stored procedure, and instead of doing this: exec procedurename @arg1 = '{sip status}', @arg2 = '{callid}' The procedure is called like this: declare @arg2 numeric({string length}) exec procedurename @arg1 = '{sip status}', @arg2 = '{callid}' output I have no idea where the thing is declaring @arg2 as an output variable. I can run my script manually forever and never get this message, but it happens about 50% of the time in Openser (i.e. half the time it works perfectly, without creating the output variable). I would try to run it somewhere else in my openser script, but the sip status isn't available in the request context (where I run similar scripts without any problems). The procedure is not supposed to return anything. In OpenSER 1.2.0 EI_R_TOO_MANY has been defined by default as "Too many registered contacts" in modules/registrar/reply.c. This message is quite enough for me, but in which occations does UA get this message? I have modparam("registrar", "max_contacts", 1) in my configuration and every time I try to register another client with a username that allready has an AOR in locations table, I get response "503 Service Unavailable", not "503 Too many registered contacts". How should I modify reply.c to get "Too many registered contacts" when I have, well, too many registered contacts? I found this thread from the mailinglist http://www.mail-archive.com/users@openser.org/msg10796.html, but I do not think it really helps me, because the value of EI_R_TOO_MANY does not seem to effect the the response the second UA gets from the OpenSER. thank you JN

Hi all, I have OpenSER (1.2.2) acting as registrar server. If the same user hase more than one AOR I'd like to do parallel forking and send the INVITE to every contact I have for that user. I want to add rpid before sending the INVITE to the gateway, because the gateway requires it, but the problem is that clients don't send REGISTER and I don't use any authentication (like www_authorize). Probably because of that my 'subscriber' table is empty all the time. Can I still use somehow append_rpid_hf() or I need to try to build it with append_hf() manually? BR, Alex.

I am trying to understand the relationship between the various module parameters for the uac module. Imagine I want to authenticate on a proxy user different credentials in different situations. The credential module parameter allows specification of the username, realm and password. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that I can have multiple of these specified for various realms: modparam("uac","credential","user1:realm1:pw1") modparam("uac","credential","user2:realm2:pw2") According to the documentation, "This parameter is required if UAC authentication is used." What then is the purpose of the auth_realm_avp, auth_username_avp and auth_password_avp module parameters? Do they replace the credential parameter or are they for something different? [Serusers] uri contains no digits, only an IP

How am I supposed to route these? Essentially, I get an INVITE from an end-user. The uri is simply sip:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX What is currently happening is that the IP address represented by Xs above is the IP of my proxy. The proxy sees this URI and forwards the call back to itself. This is obviously wrong, but I am not sure how to correct it. The routing data I need is in the to_uri, but I am not sure how to place this into the uri field. rewriteuri does not work on variables, only strings. How can I accomplish this? Greetings, I have a problem passing AVPs to stored procedures (or in other SQL contexts) that require an integer argument. It is not a show-stopper, it just throws a warning: 0(6535) PG[get_columns]: Unhandled data type column (my_stored_proc) OID (869), defaulting to STRING This results from something like: avp_db_query("SELECT my_stored_proc($avp(S:my_avp))"); Now, $avp(S:my_avp) is a numerical value, so it does end up working. However, because AVPs are not natively "typed" as numerical or string values in a way that is represented at the Postgres layer of the avpops implementation, evidently, this situation arises. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried using CAST() in the SQL statement, but that did not appear to help. Hello, all, I have one question, if in ser.cfg, loadmodule "/home/linus/gao/usr/local/lib/ser/modules/mysql.so", does it means we must go to mysql website and download and install it? and then create db with name config in ser.cfg ? Hi Bogdan, I don't want to change CPL's standard element specified by RFC, but only add a new type of switch. But Internal parser and Interpreter are included within CPL-C Module of OpenSER, right? So, I have to say to OpenSER how it parses and manages this new element. Hello, all, I download ser-2.0.0-rc1_src.tar.gz source file and compile it in my own os, and it is: Linux version 2.6.9-34.ELsmp ( bhcompile(a)hs20-bc1-7.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 3.4.5 20051201 (Red Hat 3.4.5-2)). Hi Kevin. Unfortunately not. I read the tickets at openxcap.org but that didn't help me yet. I tried plenty of things, downgrade the libxml2 as recommended there, install the required stuff manually but neither worked out. You think the problem comes from xml schema checking from Proxy? I had actually similar problem on other compilation, but in this case I doubt as all xsd files for presence related AUIDs are brought by the openxcap package itself. I would also appreciate if sb. tried compilation and use on a "more current unstable" Debian system or similar (acc. library version differences) and can give additional hints. How did u proceed and so on - there must be some differences to the installation recommendation on openxcap.org. I noticed a difference between ser and asterisk. Hello, I am working on a project in which calls are placed from an Asterisk server towards the PSTN or SIP clients and then connected to another phone of the PSTN or another SIP client. Those calls are placed by a user (caller) through an interface. First a call is placed towards the caller from an extension in Asterisk and once the caller picks up the phone, the second call is placed and both are connected. In a first time all SIP clients were registered to Asterisk and there was no SER on the picture. Everything was working fine. But I have decided to use SER as SIP proxy now. So the SIP clients are registered with SER and Asterisk is still the originating point of all calls and provides the connection to the PSTN. The problem is when the user wants a call towards the PSTN to be connected to a SIP client. Once the call going towards the PSTN has been answered, Asterisk attempts to contact a SIP client which is registered in SER but SER sees the call coming from "sip:(PSTN phone number of the first call)@hostIP". There is no such client in the database and it is therefore not allowed to connect. In the following example Zap/1-1 is the interface towards the PSTN, 0761111111 the phone number dialled, and 6644 an extension registered with SER. I also read in http://siprouter.onsip.org/doc/gettingstarted/ch09.html how to relay calls placed towards the PSTN from SER towards a gateway (Asterisk here) but I think it wouldn't do any good to send back the call to Asterisk. Hello, due to infrastructure maintenance of the place where the current openser.org server is located, Monday Oct 15, 04:30am Central European Time, the services will be down for about 2 hours. That include everything hosted in the server: - web pages (including documentation and dokuwiki) - mailing lists - downloads Hope everything will go according to the schedule and the services will be back online as planned. Hi Atle, Let me make my scenario clear on you. I have 2 softphone and 1 IP phone(SPA942). I would like to call from Softphone A to SPA942, then use SPA942 transfer the call to Softphone B. But, when I do so, the connection still remained on between SPA942 and Softphone B. I managed to get Softphone A onHold and the SPA942 managed to call to Softphone B. Once I press on the 'xfer' button after calling Softphone B, A still onHold and no SIP signal to unHold A and to terminate B. If I would like to configure the ser.cfg file, which part that I need to configure? And how do I do that? Thanks. After a while "pike_check_req()" returns FALSE and the message is terminated. Ok. But if during the sipp attack I do a call from my laptop softphone (same public IP then) most of the times the call is accepted, even if I see the xlog message (because sipp atack) and my IP is listed when doing: ~# openserctl fifo pike_list How is possible? And other question: what is exactly "remove_latency" parameter for? I read: "For how long the IP address will be kept in memory after the last request from that IP address. It's a sort of timeout value." - Is it seconds or miliseconds? - Does it mean the time that listed IP's will be "banned" (I mean the IP's appearing in "openserctl fifo pike_list")? I think is not this because I put: modparam("pike", "remove_latency", 9999999999999) and the IP dissapears of listed IP's after a few seconds (10 - 20). Thanks for any explanation. It could be. i'ld suggest upgrading SER so that you don't hunt historical errors and then following memory-problem-reporting guidelines (a bit tedious but provides the so needed info about what's wrong). Hello, I need help to interpret the syslog. I have a problem with memory, maybe there is memory leak: after few hours and few cps, my ser goes out of memory Feb 8 17:27:29 SAM-IP ser[2193]: ERROR: sip_msg_cloner: cannot allocate memory Feb 8 17:27:29 SAM-IP ser[2193]: ERROR: new_t: out of mem: Feb 8 17:27:29 SAM-IP ser[2193]: ERROR: t_newtran: new_t failed If I stop the test and I wait, ser doesn't release memory and it continues to refuse every call with "out of mem". I have attached the end of the syslog (ser recompiled with DBG_QM_MALLOC options). I don't understand if the messages in this trace contain info about a memory leak, but if I stop ser immediately after the start without any call, I don't see great differences in the syslog. I'm using ser 0.9.6. What else can I do to search more info about memory leak? When I tried to use relay (mediaproxy) to do the call transfer, it's able to transfer the call to the other party whereas when the condition is P2P, it just can't pass the correct signal. 2) Can SER support SPA942 ? Hi! I just compiled a fresh openser-1.2 (no installation - only "make all" and running it as non-privileged user from the source directory). Everything works fine except that I can not see L_DEBUG messages in syslog (debug=3 causes the same output in syslog as debug=4) and I'm stuck in finding the problem. When starting openser with -D -E -dd I see DEBUG messages too. thanks Klaus

Hi, is there any view about ser working with openXCAP serverI set up openXCAP and tried it but unfortunately there are some incompatibility issues.I got the following error in openXCAP: Invalid Document Selector xcap-root/pres-rules/users/pgr(a)voip.touk.pl/index (the Document Selector must be 'users' or 'global': 'pres-rules') my xcap server listen on port 8000 and my ser config is the following: modparam("xcap", "xcap_root","http://voip.touk.pl:8000/xcap-root") Cheers -tomasz

Hi all, I've a problem with a CPE/IAD that sometimes send a REGISTER with same Cseq in the location entry, OpenSER response is "400 Bad Request" with P-Registrar-Error: Invalid CSeq number. This causes the CPE/IAD to disable the voice port. I want disable this kind of check, i've try to set the modparam("usrloc", "cseq_delay", 0) for disable retrasmission check but doesn't work Any other idea to solve this? i've this problem with only this CPE. Hi, pua_usrloc has an issue with SIP device that publish their state, since the PUBLISH is generated twice: 1) With the REGISTER by pua_usrloc module. 2) With the PUBLISH sent by the device. If for example the user sets "Online" - "Away" status and after that the device refreshes the REGISTER, then its state will just be "Online" (the state pua_usrloc generates). In order to avoid this issue it could be nice to query a BD table looking for the "User-Agent" and just exec "pua_set_publish()" if the device doesn't support presence PUBLISH. The query could be done by regular expressions in order to allow different versions of same device, all of them supporting presence. A doubt I have is: Would be easier store user-agents of devices supporting presence? or not supporting presence? which one list will be shorter? Because it, I'd like to start a page in the wiki containing all the devices "User-Agent" (with regular expression) supporting (or not) presence PUBLISH, and a small script to generate the table after copy&paste the whole list from the web. Hi everyone, I'm trying to build one asterisk cluster using openser to route calls to each machine. I followed a few (many) guides and examples on internet but they simple didn't work very well... I'm using the dispatcher module with openser version 1.1.0-9etch1 (running on a debian 4.0). I have two asterisk (trixbox) machines to do load balancing and failover. I can register in my openser machine with my softphone (twinkle). When I place a call to one extension that exists in both asterisks the call goes always to the second ip in the list. Looking in the debug messages I found the following part: 7(7905) DEBUG:tm:t_should_relay_response: T_code=100, new_code=407 7(7905) DEBUG:tm:t_pick_branch: picked branch 0, code 407 7(7905) ERROR:tm:t_forward_nonack: no branch for forwarding 7(7905) ERROR:tm:w_t_relay: t_forward_nonack failed 7(7905) DEBUG:tm:relay_reply: branch=0, save=0, relay=0 7(7905) old size: 555, new size: 474 7(7905) build_res_from_sip_res: copied size: orig:124, new: 43, rest: 431 msg= SIP/2.0 407 Proxy Authentication Required in my understanding that would mean that I need a password of some kind to relay this message to the asterisk box. The funny part is that the call gets completed and goes always to the same box, the second one in the list. If I change the order of the IPs inside my dispatcher.cfg file it starts to go to the other asterisk, that is the 2nd in the list now. After a lot reading in the debug messages and writing some log messages I found out that the invite request is always going down to the failure route. I think that this is because of the call to t_on_failure("1"); inside my if ( method=="INVITE" ) in the main route, that triggers when the code 407 comes from the password reply... thats just one idea. Have you tryied to call from UA1 (behind your NAT) to other device out of your LAN? MediaProxy (if it well configured) should work in that case. In case caller and called behind the same call, you explicitely **need** to allow direct RP in openser.cfg by matching $si with $dd (if pulbic source address and destination address is the same don't apply SDP fix). Hi, I'm interested in using DNS blacklisting to stop transmitting SIP requests towards UAS endpoints that are non-responsive. I am on version 1.2, but I can't get it to work properly. Here is what I am trying to do: 1) I get a message from a UAC that needs to be sent towards 1 of 4 destination UAS endpoints. 2) I setup the OpenSER to perform an SRV lookup which returns a record that has four A records associated with it. IN SRV ;; ANSWER SECTION: _sip._udp.aimcidfilter.com. 60 IN SRV 1 100 5061 spinner.eng.rr.com. _sip._udp.aimcidfilter.com. 60 IN SRV 2 100 5061 bart.eng.rr.com. _sip._udp.aimcidfilter.com. 60 IN SRV 3 50 5061 homer.eng.rr.com. _sip._udp.aimcidfilter.com. 60 IN SRV 3 50 5061 crunch.eng.rr.com. 3) The OpenSER does a gethostbyname which performs a DNS A record lookup and gets a response for spinner.eng.rr.com. 4) When the OpenSER sends towards spinner.eng.rr.com, it does not get a SIP response from it. *It is at this point I was hoping that OpenSER would blacklist this UAS endpoint*, but for each incoming request that is received by the OpenSER, it continues to resolve the domain in the same manner and sends towards spinner.eng.rr.com even though there is no SIP response. Is what I am trying to do in accordance with how OpenSER blacklisting is supposed to work? I am trying to have OpenSER send towards bart.eng.rr.com when spinner.eng.rr.com is not responding or is not reachable. My configuration is as below. Note that I have even tried to disable sending towards spinner.eng.rr.com by manually adding a dst_blacklist entry - that doesn't even seem to work for me.. Am I doing something wrong? UA1 ----> (NAT 1) --------> PROXY | | UA2 <-----(NAT 1)<------------- I've configured my openser.cfg to use Mediaproxy (installed in the same pc) if 1 or 2 pc are behind NAT (in this case both of my pc). But when I call from UA1 to the other and I accept the call with UA2, the RTP stream doesn't flow through the Mediaproxy but it's direct from UA1 to UA2. Any clue? thanks daniel

Hi, I know this was from the beginning a hot issue, but now, thanks to Dragos Oancea <dragos(a)voice-system.ro>, the mi_xmlrpc can: 1) be compiled against the newest versions of libxmlrpc-c3. The Makefile will detect the library version an trigger the appropriate compile options for the module; So the module supports both the old version (0.9.10) and the newest versions (1.03.10 - 1.06.18). If none of these version is detected, a warning will be issued and the module will be compiled as for the new versions. If you detect the older versions (than 1.03.10 are supported, please let us know). 2) properly auto-detects the path of the header files and the libraries that the modules needs to compile against, so this should not be a problem anymore ;) any feedback will be useful :) regards, bogdan
