[Serusers] Not getting ACK to Mysql when calling SIP to PSTN

Hello, i am runing ser 0.10.99-dev8 and 0.8.14 on a different machine. When calling from a sip device (Linksys RT31P2) to PSTN (Cisco 5300), the ACK message is not logged to mysql. Only INVITEs (without 200 status) and BYEs are logged. The other scenarios sip to sip and pstn to sip, log all the messages i need. (INVITE 200, ACK and BYE) I am sure there is something missing in ser.cfg. Any clue on what i am doing wrong?? [Serusers] serweb PHP errors

On Fedora core 3 with all needed packages installed and config.php configured properly I can't login to serweb user_intrface or admin When I first load the user or admin index.php I get many errors in apache error logs like the following: [client 192.168.25.2] PHP Notice: Undefined index: extrahtml in /var/www/html/phplib/oohforms.inc on line 72, referer: http://192.168.25.3/iptel/user/ [client 192.168.25.2] PHP Notice: Undefined property: isfile in /var/www/html/phplib/oohforms.inc on line 250, referer: http://192.168.25.3/iptel/user/ [client 192.168.25.2] PHP Notice: Undefined property: hidden in /var/www/html/phplib/oohforms.inc on line 253, referer: http://192.168.25.3/iptel/user/ .....snip [client 192.168.25.2] PHP Notice: Undefined index: frozen in /var/www/html/phplib/oohforms.inc on line 284, referer: http://192.168.25.3/iptel/user/ When I enter username/passwd and submit I get more errors in logs (Notice, index frozen etc.) and also A Bad Username or Password message and I return to login screen. There is nothing wrong with passwords, and I can connect to ser db with mysql client just fine. I use serweb_2004-07-27 and ser-0.8.14. I have the vars in php.ini according to the instractions. Please point me to any possible solution. Thanks.

[Serusers] NAT considerations...

Just some thoughts based on my experience... After months trying to make everything work using rtpproxy-mediaproxy with almost everything accomplished but video, I tried to switch to stun solution. All my problems are gone now, I have audio, video, presence and instant messages working like a charm. And most important media server doesn't flow thru my server so network load remains very low. I have been testing for some days now and I'm quite happy since I still have to stumble on major problems. Now some considerations... On a poll onsip.org STUN usage is very low and rtpproxy-mediaproxy rule as NAT trasversal solution. Why don't people use stun? Has it some major drawbacks I still haven't found? What are main advantages of rtpproxy-mediaproxy solutions? I'm really curious to know serusers opinions about this issue. thank you all for your two cents ;) -- Giovanni Balasso giaso(a)yahoo.it

And even worst. There are some kind of NAT that STUN does not work. You can check the mailing list i think some people call it "crap nat". [Serusers] call routing problem

Hi I am mapping external numbers to internal ones in a db, eg 08450040600 maps to 040600 So when a call comes from pstn to 08450040600 it hits the ip phone on 040600, all well and good. Now what I am testing is deploying asterisk for other features like call pickup and all. I have managed to create separate contexts in asterisk based on company ID (i.e virtual PBX) assigned from a DB. And when a call from IP phone A (company id =cid=500) calls out the call goes via ser (thats where all IP phones are registered) to asterisk, and then out to ser --->pstn (was gonna go out via asterisk - pstn, but decided to keep it all within ser). This is fine, because asterisk is in the loop. Now what I need is for inbound calls to that IP phone to also be routed into asterisk, and then to ser and to the ipphone, that way I pull all calls for each company into a asterisk context for all its pbx functionality. The problem is that when 0845 is called from pstn, I cant setflag on it, using is_user_in, since From = pstn dialing number, and To = 4408450040600, and not 040600, any ideas on what I can match on so that I can set the correct flag and divert to asterisk. Dear List, I work with SER and as you see i do auth and acc together with mediaproxy and pstn gateway. i create users, i connect my ATA, it does not register :( then i dial a PSTN number, it dials and we speak, after this part it's so strange... i can only register after doing this, what you think... i add another ATA, again it does not register, i do same things and call a cellular or landline, i talk a bit and after it register itself with SER. when both registered i can make calls from each other and there's no problem. Anyone have an idea ? hi, what can i do to make Winndows Messenger accept NOTIFY messages, i have the following error in the log of SER check_message(): Accepts application/xpidf+xml, text/xml+msrtc.pidf, application/pidf+xml not valid for event package et=presence handle_subscription(): Error while checking message handle_subscription about to send_reply and return -2 i have seen that other clients use 'application/cpim-pidf+xml' in Accept header Does it mean that NOTIFY messages that sends Windows Messenger will never work whith SER thanks

Hi, I want to use a Java application to add ser users to the Database. I want to enter the SQL command to the Database straight away (without using serctl), but the problem is that some fields need some calculation (phplib_id, ha1...). Basically calculate the function gen_ha1. Do you know what does this function calculates?, it is a SHA-1 function? Have any of you implemented it using Java? Thanks, Marcos

hi, i'm installing appache 2.0.54 on solaris 9, i already installed pkges from sunfreeware.com gcc automake, binutils, make, autoconf, etc. i laready did fixed my path /usr/cc/bin/ /usr/ucb ......, i tried ln -s gcc cc, however, i 'm still getting the error. but i dont have all this packages on my system SUNWbtool, SUNWsprot, SUNWtoo for libraries & headers: SUNWhea, SUNWarc, SUNWlibm, SUNWlibms SUNWdfbh, SUNWcg6h, SUNWxwinc, SUNWolinc, SUNWxglh for 64 bit development: SUNWarcx, SUNWbtoox, SUNWdplx, SUNWscpux, SUNWsprox, SUNWtoox, SUNWlmsx, SUNWlmx, SUNWlibCx for ucb compat: SUNWsra, SUNWsrh i do not have the /opt/SUNWsprot directory either. how can i install this packages, where can i get it? is it downloadable? thnks. checking for chosen layout... apr checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details. configure failed for srclib/apr

Why did I receive busy tone after the router answered my call??? Is my configuration in Router wrong???? Why did I receive busy tone after the router answered my call??? Is my configuration in Router wrong???? Valued Colleagues, I am trying to figure out how ANI and CallerID are handled/processed by SER and by SIP in general. I have understood append_rpid_hf can be used to add a Remote-Party-ID SIP header field. Does Remote-Party-ID represent the CallerID or the ANI?! How does SER include CallerID and ANI in the SIP message? Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction as to where to look/read?! Best Regards, Ramin

You were right, it was the firewall. Once I added the NAT traversal rules it worked right away. What I don't understand is why I need this from the SER installation I setup while I didn't need to do this to register with my iptel.org account? Hello, I've ser running on 192.168.1.222:5061 and asterisk on 192.168.1.222:5060 and I want to forward international calls to asterisk. I'm writing a small accounting application and I need the methods "ACK" and "BYE". [Serusers] REGISTER loops from specific location

Hi folks, I was experimenting with SER awhile back and am now revisiting it. I've just setup a SER installation using the latest debian packages on a server outside of our office firewall on a public IP address. From home, my laptop on a private IP behind a linksys router/firewall can login/register with my SER server fine. It can also login/register into my iptel.org account as well. Then when I get to the office, behind our firewall, I have problems. I can still login/register my iptel.org account from my laptop on a private IP behind the office firewall, but when I try to log into the SER server I setup it seems to go into a loop (see logs below). I'm using stunserver.org in all cases. I wonder about the line pre_auth(): Credentials with given realm not found but then it works fine using the same login info from home. Also, when all this gives up my softphone says: Registration rejected. Response:Server could not be reached, or it did not respond. Any ideas appreciated. Hi,I am experiencing a strange issue. I am forwarding calls to Asterisk voicemail upon no-response. So, in failure route, I simply check the status 408 or 486 and if true, I jump to a routing-block. I installed a Fedora Core 3 I downloaded ser-0.9.3_src.tar.gz I extracted the code to /usr/src : /usr/src/ser-0.9.3 I made in my terminal - make mode=debug all : it's OK ("make all" didn't work either) - su - make install : it's OK I put the 'Hello Word' ser.cfg in /usr/local/ets/ser/ I started SER : /usr/local/sbin/ser -D -E SER started but my SIP phone cannot registered (Cisco 7960, Cisco 7940, FCI and SIPphone Lite) What's wrong ? Hi Sandra, and the others, I found the solution to my pbm, in a previous test configuration I commented the modparam for acc module, if you look at the syslog in my previous message, the error is related to the loading of the acc module looking for the default password cause I forgot to set the modparam (in fact the conf is commented). For those who have pbm with sql password take a deeper look (than me) to the syslog message. Hello, please (CC) the list in your replies. I exactly don't know why there is a "DB Error: syntax error". May be you have some older version of mysql. Serweb needs mysql >= 4.0. You may also try enable logging in serweb by set config variable $config->enable_loging to true. In log file you will see sql queries and more descriptive error messages. Please send me it. To work with natted us I use mediaproxy and the ser.cfg from onsip.org Everything works fine when an user is offline, but when I try to use a failure route I am not able to get it working on natted custmers. Hello guys, how do you think it is the best way to implement some kind of partitions on ser? I mean, extensions 1000 to 1999 belong to domainA and can't call to extensions 2000 to 2999 on domainB. Also there are independent dialing plans for each domain. >From domainA to access international destinations 00+E164 should be dialed and from domainB 011+E164. Hi all, I've got a pbm using mysql with ser 0.9.3 when I set a password different from the default passwd heslo for ser user. When using the default password configuration and the ser_mysql.sh script, I've got no pbm. I can use the localhost database and even a database started on another proxy with a different password than heslo (heslo2), using the settings below in ser.cfg: fifo_db_url="mysql://ser2:heslo2@172.30.30.104/ser2" modparam("auth_db|uri_db|usrloc", "db_url", "mysql://ser2:heslo2@172.30.30.104/ser2") But when I modify the ser_mysql.sh to use a different password than heslo (heslo 2 for example, see below), ser does not start using: fifo_db_url="mysql://ser:heslo2@localhost/ser" modparam("auth_db|uri_db|usrloc", "db_url", "mysql://ser:heslo2@localhost/ser"). Moreover I'm now unable to log to the database loaded on the other proxy (172.30.30.104) using the first configuration above. When using mysql -h localhost -u ser -p and using the new password, I can connect to the database. Seems there is a bug in the openser_mysql.sh script. Running it screws up that root password in mysql and changes it to "openserrw". It also does not create a user "openserrw". So i suppose the following method: Radius get the RADIUS request.-->Convert the DIGEST-ATTRIBUTES to readable format.-->to calculate the DIGEST AUTH. values the RADIUS have to do LDAP lookup for the PASSWORD-> Calculate the DIGEST AUTH. value and comapare it with the recieved one, if match the user authenticated. It's right ? The radius authentication system works fine with DIGEST authentication, if I store the user/pass on local file system (in users file) and also works authenticate from LDAP without DIGEST auth (try with radtest). Hi, I followed the onsip.org <http://onsip.org> guidelines for using ser +mediaproxy. I attached asterisk as a voicemail system. When a call from the PSTN is placed to an IP user that is behind NAT, the audio stream goes through the mediaproxy without any issues. When the same call get forwarded to vm (asterisk) the call fail with a 488 from asterisk, as well as with errors such as: use_table(): invalid parameter value is_local() error while trying to use domain ser, mediaproxy as well as asterisk are on a public address. Has anybody had asterisk running as a voicemail with the onip config? Thanks. Samy.

Hi. I have successfully installed SER 0.9.3 in a FC3 box. I have a couple of UAs registered and they can call one each other. Now I decided to install MySQL in the same box so I tried to stop SER by: Using serctl stop and got ser.pid not found. I know it should be at /etc/var or /etc/var/ser but nothing Searched the whole box and couldn't find it. ? ? Then I tried /etc/init.d/ser stop and got "not such file or directory" Tried also /usr/local/sbin/ser stop but I got the "Listening on message. At this point as the newbie that I am I have to ask for your advice. How do I get those files in the right place and how do I stop SER? Thanks Juan

Hi folks, OpenSER 0.9.5 is available for download now at http://openser.org/pub/openser/0.9.5/ This is just a re-packing to include juha's lcr module and postgres package. Minor packaging fixes are also there (like default config files and some dependencies). GCC 4.0 warnings were fixed also. See the changeLog file for more details. Also radius debian packages are available. For now, the solaris binaries are not yet generated. So, the CVS tag is the same rel_0_9_0, but subversion was increased from 4 to 5. regards, bogdan

[Serusers] Error starting ser 0.9.3 with mysql

Dear serusers, BACKGROUND: 1) I have installed FC4 successfully. 2) I have installed SER 0.9.3 WITHOUT mysql support successfully. I even made phone calls. 3) I then ran the ser_mysql.sh script successfully. I see the 'ser' database with its tables in mysql. 4) I them modifed ser.cfg to allow authentication. 5) I now get this message in the /var/log/messages file: Jun 30 16:02:09 sip ser: ERROR: load_module: could not open module </usr/local/lib/ser/modules/mysql.so>: libmysqlclient.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Jun 30 16:02:09 sip ser: parse error (35,13-14): failed to load module QUESTION: Why do I get the above error message? Hi Some users seems to be getting BYE in acc with 481, which is obvioulsy corrupting the acc table, because I get say 4 BYE for 1 INVITE, 1 of the BYE is 200, the other 481, which after looking at the RFC has something to do with call leg transaction missing. Is this a client issue, and if so is there any fix, or is it better to ignore those acc records :-) Iqbal

Hi! Regarding IM within SIP, there are two modes: paging and session. The first is a kind of sms service, where users sends *few* messages(if you are not a teenager... ;) ) . This is provided by the standard SIP request MESSAGE. The session mode provides the typical chat scenario, where users are typing *constantly* message and they are exchanged in (soft) real time. This is provided by the MSRP protocol defined by the IETF's group SIMPLE. In that case, the MSRP session parameters are carried in the SDP body of the INVITE. Once the Offer/Answer is completed, both end points can send messages via the MSRP session. For both modes, SIP proxies (SER) do not require extended capabilities because in both cases SIP requests (MESSAGE for paging and INVITE for session) are proxied normally and finally arrive to the end points. The main difference lies in the UA: the paging mode is widely supported because almost all UA supports MESSAGE request, while the session mode is not yet so extended because MSRP is quite new. Although Messenger started (>4.6 I think) with plain SIP supporting only MESSAGE requests, it needed a chat session mode to be implemented and since MSRP was not still finished, microsoft decided to develop its own protocol (strange, isn't it?). That is why new versions of microsoft messenger are not compatible with standard SIP UA. Hi there!!!... Iam newy in SER mailing list, and I have a problem with my SER installation that I saw that other members have before, but I can't find a solution to the issue. [Serusers] 30 seconds call with some uac

hi all,ter around we use ser with many differents handests, ata and softphones. with some of them (sipura and Zyxel) the call finished after around 20/30 seconds. The terminator send us a 200 OK when communication start, but with these UAc, ser doesn't send back an ACK to the termination. Any idea of how to solve that problem? Hi, Sorry to resubmit on much the same topic as before (Portal for forking call to preferred end device-sequential ringing) but I was wondering if anyone had any further ideas on how to associate a particular contact address with a location. i.e. a user can choose that their preferred location is their desktop phone and I need to devise some way to know that a particular contact address is associated with the desktop phone. I was thinking the user must either enter the device ip addresses manually so I can search the contact based on IP address (This sucks in terms of NAT, scalability and losing mobility over networks) OR I could perhaps stipulate that a user cannot have two of the same device e.g. cant have two BT100 hardphones and I could search the location table based on model. I think either of these options aren't great....Which is why I was wondering if anyone had any better ideas? Many Thanks, Aisling. p.s. Hello everyone, I've just tested version 0.9.3 running on a debian stable box, installed from .deb packages. If you try to stop or restart ser with serctl it just doesn't work. pid is not found. [Serusers] help! lost invites when using outbound proxy

Hi everyone! I have set up a ser as an outbound proxy with nathelper+rtpproxy. This is my set up IPphone1 --> nat router --> outbound proxy(OP) --> softswitch(SS) IPphone2 --> with the OP and SS in public. The IPphones are behind the same NAT and both configured to the same OP. I am only testing against this softswitch from some vendor so i don't have any control over it. And I used the sample nathelper.cfg from the CVS to get started. Registration went smoothly. The problem starts when I try to call one phone using the other. Nothing happens until I recieve a 408 request time out. I did dumps on the OP and NAT router and what happens is the that the SS sends the INVITE to the NAT router directly instead of sending it to the OP. I tried reading the RFC but since im still new with sip and ser i am still at lost. Maybe someone here can help enlighten me. On sending INVITES, where in the SIP messages does the SS knows where to send the INVITE? Is it suppose to send back on what's in the Contact Header in registration? Would a Record-Route help solve the problem? Here's a rough description on what happens on the INVITES on phone1 calling phone2: IPphone1 --> NAT --> OP --> SS Adds: Via Changes Contact with source ip IPphone1 <-- NAT <-- OP <-- SS 407 407 407 407 Removes Via IPphone1 --> NAT --> OP --> SS Invite with Adds Via Authorization Changes Contact with source ip (lost) NAT <------------------------------ SS sees 3 Vias Thanks in Advance for any help or ideas. I go to http://mydomain/admin/index.php and I get the login screen, but nothing I try there works. What could this be? I have Asterisk and SER at the same computer with 2 different listening ports, the goal is to accomplish this scenario: - SER acts as a NAT transversal gateway with Mediaproxy - Asterisk acts as PBX, PSTN Gateway and Voicemail server That means that ALL the authentications, PBX functions and switching are handled by Asterisk. I donât know how to do this, all I can do now is: - Create users with DB authentication at SER, these users can successfully register and place calls to each other - At Asterisk, I added Autocreatepeer = yes (sip.conf) - The registered SER users can place PSTN calls through Asterisk What Iâm confused about is: - How to do a double authentication at SER and Asterisk at the same time? I tried to create an extension at Asterisk with the same user name and password I used in SER and remove the Autocreatepeer = yes. It doesnât work - The reason I want to do this is to be able to use the PBX functions at Asterisk (call forward, transfer, .. etc.) Any help is highly appreciated Regards. ____________________________________________________ Yahoo! Hello I just upgraded my ser 0.9.2 to ser 0.9.3 stable and it just coredumps on me. It seems to be a database issue because original ser.cfg works as long as athentication is not enabled. Enable it and ser dumps... Hi Is there a way of getting ser to send messages to asterisk but to match different blocks in sip.conf in asterisk In sip.conf asterisk seems to match on a) the username (From:) b) the ip address c) default What i want to do is to based upon certain matches in ser to direct the INVITE to a particular block in sip.conf, from where I can then match to a diff contect in extensions.conf. If this is not possible can I have a variable name for context based upon username of something like that. I know this post would be better in asterisk mailing list, I will get there soon :-) iqbal
