Thanks for the reply. I'm using the 0.9.7 version for now, as someone sent me a great installation tutorial for it. But in the future when I upgrade it to the newer one I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind.

I think the problem here is probably the Solaris assembler which doesn't
recognize some of the newer x86 mnemonics. If your Solaris is recent
enough it should have the GNU assembler installed as /usr/sfw/bin/as. If
so, make sure that /usr/sfw/bin precedes /usr/ccs/bin in your $PATH. If
not, install GNU binutils and put its 'bin' directory in the front of
your $PATH.
