OK. It sounds like the Softphone is not putting the realm/domain
in the URI.
Which softphone are you using?

Sounds like you softphone do not know where to
send
a request if you omit the
host part. Is the request sent by the softphone if
you omit the host part? Is
the request received at the server? Do the server
deliver the request if it
received it? and so on and on and on...
