thanks for the information. I had to success with (to at least compile the code) the package libpurple-dev (v.2.4.1) that was available on the system. Perhaps you can add some information about the depencencies to the module readme?
libpurple-dev is present in Debian-based systems, as I could get. The readme has dependency note: http://kamailio.org/docs/modules/1.5.x/purple.html#id2454084
