Quick note for those used to doing things like me:
-- bash$ export CVS_RSH=ssh bash$ export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@cvs.ser.berlios.de:/cvsroot/ser bash$ cvs checkout <modulename> --
Works fine.
