a couple things to check -
in the ser config:
- iirc the domain needs to match the hostname (fqdn) of the ser box, and
that it matches what is used in the registration authorization challenge;
on the client box:
- is it running a personal fw that may be (silently) blocking the either
one or both of the registration attempt or the challenge from ser? i
ran into this with symantec client fw on xp. as at test, i disabled the
fw on the client -- instead of the "...service is temporarily
unavailable." messenger prompted me for the passwd associated with the
username;

Select "SIP Communications Service Account". Put your user@domain in for
the
sign-in name. Under Advanced I had to use my server IP address. I don't
think
A or SRV names are supported but I could be wrong, at least on the A
record part.
Select UDP as the transport.

I am trying to register Windows Messenger 5 with

I've looked at other forums and they suggested that I make sure the
domains are the same....I think they are. My user is
aisling(a)10.0.1.12 and my server domain is 10.0.1.12.....
Any other suggestions as to what the problem maybe??
Many Thanks,
Aisling.
