You can use permissions module in event_route if you want to limit the access as well as user authentication with auth_check() (like for sip requests). Of course, alternative is to set rules in firewall for that port.
In other words, you should be able to do pretty much the same things for authentication in xhttp event route as you do for sip in request_route.
