Here is a document I posted a while ago on how I got MWI to work with SER. Keep
in mind that I only use Asterisk as a voicemail server. ser is used for
everything else.

The second problem is the PSTN-Gateway. If I call a number through the
PSTN gateway and than hangup before somebody answers the called phone
will not stop to ring. How comes this?
