In fact this number is the number of listeners for each interface you
bind SER to.
So, if you only have tcp listen statements there won't be UDP nor
loopback listeners.
Making serctl ps will present this information together with the rest
of processes that SER starts.

There was a privious post on this exactly like yours. Anyway...
"children=4" mean that there will be 4 UDP, 4 TCP and 4 loopback
listenters on your SER, when you start it (you can check with "serctl
ps" to verify).
