I am using Windows Messenger 5.1. Do I have to use mysql database for presence to work, or should the clients be able to see each other even without it? Right now, I can sign in, but cannot see my contacts even though they are online.

is the thema more complicate. i am tryted messenger 5.0, 5.1, 4.7 no work fine. i am serach a script form messenger. but not match. :(

Sniff the pakets. MSM uses SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY. But nevertheless it doesn't work fine, because MS wants to push the .net architecture.
I made the experience that some messages can't be sent, because the receiving messenger sends a BYE immediately after the dialog is established (INVITE/OK/ACK). When the sending messenger tries to send the MESSAGE, it is discarded by ser because the dialog is already finished! Funny!
