– Kamailio SIP Server –

Experiences using Presence Server with different devices

CounterPath eyeBeam 1.5 / X-Lite 3.0

- no problem encountered so far

Pidgin (formerly Gaim)

Three issues so far:

  • “Gaim 2.00beta3.1 has SIMPLE support and is able to interact with the new presence implementation although it has some problems with the status of the other gaim buddies…it does not send a PUBLISH with closed status when closing gaim.”

ACTION TAKEN: Bug Report filed with Gaim http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1632521&group_id=235&atid=100235
BUG REPORT CLOSED WITHOUT FIX
NEEDS RE-OPENING IN THE PIDGIN BUG TRACKER, IF IT IS STILL AN ISSUE WITH THE RE-NAMED CLIENT

  • “Tested with Gaim “SIMPLE” and everything works so far. However, and this is most likely a Gaim issue, Gaim sends in the “Contact” porting of a SUBSCRIBE, as “username@host's default IP”. There there is an issue with this. One if your configured like I am, using an OpenVPN tunnel, the tunnels address isn't used which means the user is never seen and you can't have multiple SIMPLE domains defined in Gaim. The work around is to edit the Gaim “prefs.xml” file to at least have one domain working.”

  • “The only presence statuses visible between a Gaim 2.00beta3.1 client and a CounterPath eyeBeam 1.5/X-Lite 3.0 client are online/offline. Other statuses such as Away are ignored when set by the other client. Note that, due to the PUBLISH bug above, CounterPath clients also do not recognise a Gaim user signing out/setting offline.”
