The password is cached in memory, so a change to database will make no effect in current version, therefore retrying after a while does not make much sense. Maybe future improvements will fix it.

One more idea. If the registration did not work e.g. the password did not match. Then you have to restart kamailio. Normally Kamailio should try it every X seconds/minutes again.

Thanks a lot. This patch does work. I tried to register to the GIT version of FreeSWITCH. This does work without a problem but still no registration possible to asterisk. I will try to analyze that.

Just committed on master branch some work to fix it - if the authenticated REGISTER still fails, don't do it again (e.g., password might be wrong). This will prevent cascade auth'ed REGISTER requests. If you can try it and report back, would be useful.

Within the trace I see, that Asterisk does set the to-tag within the "unauthorized" towards Kamailio. Kamailio does then send the REGISTER Request with authentication credentials but _without_ the to-tag.
Best regards,
Bernhard Suttner

A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below.
User who did this - bernhards (bernhards)
Attached to Project - sip-router
Summary - UAC Outgoing Registration Failed Authentication
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Modules kamailio
Status - Assigned
Assigned To - Daniel-Constantin Mierla
Operating System - All
Severity - Critical
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - Development
Due in Version - Undecided
Due Date - Undecided
Details - I tried to get a outgoing resgiration running on an Asterisk 1.4.21 but without success. Kamailio does send the first REGISTER. Asterisk does respond with Trying and Unauthorized. Afterwards Kamailio does send the REGISTER with credentials for about 100 times every second (this burst is also not good).
Within the full debug log I see:
