I may have posted this question before but I don't remember getting an
answer so forgive me for posting this again. I am utilizing the
fr_invite_timer so that I can forward a call to voicemail after about 20
seconds. The problem is that I would like to only do this for calls
that are incoming to one of the registered users, so if the user is busy
or unavailable we can send the call to voicemail. The problem that
arises is that the timer is fired even for calls made by users calling
the PSTN (via a cisco gateway). In those cases I want to let the call
keep going without timing out since voicemail in that scenario is not
relevant. Is there any way to differentiate the timer for these two
scenarios? My methods for knowing whether the destination uri is a
local registered user or the pstn is based on either is_uri_in()
function or simply checking does_uri_exist(). The problem is that these
are only known at "runtime" and the fr_invite_timer is set as a
parameter when ser starts. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie to SIP and I have a a network of voice routers (cisco 1760) I
normally use full mesh H323. now I want to use SIP and let every voice
router get in touch with the SIP server to know the IP address of the
destination pattern (number). So the SIP server will be playing the role of
a soft PBX. PLEASE help out with what I am suppose to do on the SER and each
router. (I have the SER up and running.)

FYI,
The National Institute of Standards (NIST) has a Java JAIN-SIP API that
has a working presence and IM client. This is definitely Open Source
and it works on Linux.

I've tested some more. If I start with default ser.cfg (without mysql
support) everything is ok. If I uncomment the line loadmodule
"/usr/lib/ser/modules/mysql.so" then /etc/rc.d/init.d/ser start responds
with OK, but if I try ser status afterwards it responds with "ser dead but
subsystem locked". The parse errors came from replacing "if (uri==myself)"
with "if (uri=~avitrans.aero). The HOWTO said that I should do this. Any
ideas?

I have just installed ser 0.8.11 on a RH 8.0 box using the rpm packages. Installed first ser and verified that I could start it, then installed ser-mysql and modified the ser.cfg according to the instructions in the SER HOWTO. When trying to start ser i get an error saying that the config file has 8 errors. Any ideas what migh tbe wrong?

I'm using Xlite v1 and 2 but always having so strange behaviors with SER
O.8.12:
(direct connection , public ip - to - public ip)
- with xlite v1 and/or v2 , when i try to make calls : xlite always send
404 not found to the caller (numbering plan: xxx-xxx-xxxx)
- no problem to reach someone with Xlite when I type the login
- when i make a call with Mitel 5055 or W. Messenger 5 no problem (vice et
versa, both direction)
I tried with siemens softphone, good behavior but not user friendly
Now the question is , is there any other *free* good softphone for windows
or is there anybody facing the same problem and know how to resolve it?
