Hi there,
We use kamailio 4.3.3. And we have one problem with the fax. We send and receive from and to our network, the fax does not work. Fax reports "other fax not responding". When we send through our network to another operator they receive fax. What could be wrong?
Hello,
you have to look at the sip traffic and see if there is something wrong -- one way is with ngrep:
ngrep -d any -qt -W byline "sip" port 5060
Kamailio itself has nothing to do with media stream (the fax content), unless you do rtprelay via rtpengine/rtpproxy. If you have clients behind NAT, then you have to do rtp relaying.
Cheers, Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Advise please, that it is better to use rtpproxy or mediaproxy? And what version of rtpproxy better? This one https://github.com/miconda/rtpproxy or this https://github.com/sippy/rtpproxy? We previously used openSIPS + mediaproxy. And have the same problems. Maybe the problem is not in the software, but in devices in which is connected a fax?
Thanks.

sippy/rtpproxy integrates my patches from miconda/rtpproxy, plus new features, so it is better to use sippy version.
And I think you should look at rtpproxy vs rtpengine (https://github.com/sipwise/rtpengine) these days if you want to choose between rtp relaying applications for kamailio. The later is useful if you plan webrtc gatewaying at some point or you have lots of rtp streams, because it can do kernel based forwarding.
Cheers, Daniel
Hello Daniel,
And what about the second part of my question? Someone can prompt what could be wrong?

Hi there.
This problem has been solved. We contacted with the supplier. And they sent us instructions how to configure their equipment correctly.
Thanks to all.
