if you would like to modify the from field, you would need a b2bua. you can also try if using Anonymous from field would work in your environment.

ok but using SER, is it really the only way to hide one's number when calling? no one else has succeded doing this maybe using some prefix like '#31#' or so? i can't believe NOBODY uses this kind of feature..

You can't implement full privacy using just ser.
