Hi all,
I am testing the sems version from the Head and when i uses a SIP Phone to call into the IVR module for recording when I am in the middle of recording, the program detected DTMF signal and jump out of the script. Why is it so? as I never pressed on any key? How can I resolve this problem? Why is the voice signal become the DTMF signal? Is there any adjustment that i can do to solve this problem , as my voice goes louder the more DTMF signal is being detected.
Please help.
regards, nicky
Hi Nicky,
I don't have much experience with Sems but the problem that you have seems to be a bug in the in-band DTMF detection code. Let look into Sems documentation to see if you can use RFC2833 DTMF mode instead of in-band DTMF mode.

Minh

Have you tried a different default RTP codec?
I have this problem with G.711u and G.711a on occasion, but beter with G.729 or G.723.
I'm not sure if it's a codec issue or an encoding issue, but I've seen it happen in straight voice calls. If someone's loud on the other end, it converts that noise into a DTMF signal.

Hi N,
Yes i have tried on different RTP codec but is the same is very senstive. I have tested on G729 and G723 is slightly better but when i raise my voice abit the unknow DTMF is still detected. Do you have better suggestion? Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. I don't. I used to have the problem a lot, but now I don't as much and I'm not sure why it eventually went away. During that period of time, however, I was also having some network issues.
SEMS is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, really, in that it's detecting the DTMF signals... the question is whence come the signals, and that seems to be a basic issue with the encoding/decoding of the voice.

Is SEMS ever expected/planned to have g.729 support? I realize there are licensing issues here, but an approach like the one use by asterisk seems like it would work.

use IETF defined iLBC instead and don't buy sip phones that don't support iLBC.
