If you provision you users with serctl, you have to specify a password.
If this password is verified when the user REGISTERs to ser is another
thing. This can be configured in ser.cfg

i could do serctl add someguy null some(a)thing.com <mailto:some@thing.com>
or some combo of " or ' or even - to trick mysql to not put anything in
that colum but keep ser happy :)
