Hi,
I have two PCs running Windows Messenger 5.0 and SER as registrar. I am
able to get Voice, Video, App Sharing, Whiteboard, Presence (peer to peer
only) working. However, I cannot get Instant Messaging to work.
When I look at my Ethereal capture, I see that with 5.0, INVITE is used to
start an IM session. The other client responds with TRYING, then OK.
However, it also sends a BYE immediately after sending the OK.
Subsequently when the originating client sends the MESSAGE, the other
client responds with an Error because "Call Leg does not exist".
Has anyone encountered this before? I've seen this problem being mentioned
in Google searches, but no answer so far.

New subject: [Serusers] Instant Messaging cannot work with Windows Messenger 5.0
Hi,
Didn't get a response to my last mail, so I'd like to try a different
question. Has anyone gotten Windows Messenger 5.0 (or for that matter,
any version will do) working using SIP? Which SIP server did you use? Do
you have any traces which I can reference?

Hi,
I, use eyeBeam to send message it Works fine (with the last CVS
version of SER), when I try to use Windows Messenger 5.1, it doesn't work,
because it don't use MESSAGE method. It uses INVITE method to send the
message. I think that's the problem.

Unfortunately, I need to use application sharing and whiteboard as well.
And that rules out eyeBeam. Now, I'm stuck with trying to get Windows
Messenger to work. Windows Messenger 5.0 and above uses INVITE to start
a messaging session. But it still use the MESSAGE request to send the
actual message. The problem is that the callee sends a BYE immediately
after sending an OK response to the INVITE. So, when the MESSAGE request
comes in later, the callee responds with a "481 Call Leg/Transaction
Does Not Exist".
