Hi, Does anyone know if is possible to use CLIR/CLIP using SER connected to PSTN without help from other instance? To present the incoming number on the phone connected to SER is no problem, neither when calling internal numbers. But when calling eternal PSTN numbers the IP telephone number is not showing on the terminating side. Anyone got any idea or explanation?
Thanks, Anders
Hi Anders!
Which PSTN line? Which Gateway?
Usually Gateways take the callers number from the INVITE message and use it as CLI on the PSTN side. Depending on the gateway, they use the From: header or the Remote-Party-Id: header (if present).
Of course this does not work if the usernam i the from header is eg. sip:klaus3000@iptel.org. Some gateways will signal 3000 as CLI, some will signal nothing.
When using Cisco or Asterisk GWs, you can use the Remote-Party-Id header (rpid in auth module) to signal the PSTN number to the gateway.
Of course, also the PSTN settings must be correct. If you want to set any CLI, the PSTN line must be configured for user-provided CLI.
regards, klaus
