upon a process initiated before the summer during the IRC Devel Meeting, when we started to look for refreshing the logo of Kamailio project, we are now trying to finalize the decision and we are proposing a new logo for Kamailio project.
The new proposed logo, as well as more details, can be seen at:

We look forward to the feedback from community about this proposal - you like it or not, is too similar with other logos, etc...

the logo looks nice - it is a huge improvement over the old one - but I don't see a deeper meaning in it. Is there one? If not, perhaps the swirls could be slightly altered so they look slightly like telephone receivers [1]? Or if that doesn't look good, change the swirls so they resemble the familiar "signal" icon [2]?

the logo is still trying to resemble the idea of world (360°) of communications - a transformed and simplified version of kamailio world. SIP is supposed to be the protocol that lets anyone initiate any type of rtc.
Kamailio is definitely not a telephony engine and I don't think is good to add any symbol that will suggest it.

We have that indeed, because it is able to route thousands of call setups per second ;-). However, besides being a term easier to understand in this context that session, a call could be video, 3d holograms, etc., while a telephone receiver suggests only voice telephony.

Just my opinions here -- first I find waves icon closer to the physical medium.
What I liked to this proposal was the simplicity, but still enabling the imagination to think of different concepts related to RTC. Adding more curves to get to a wave will load the image, making it look heavy, then printing will be harder if there is just little empty space between graphics. The waves were somehow resembled in the openser logo, I think it's better to go for a concept that doesn't try to copy much from the old one.

btw (still with the remark that I don't want a direct relation with telephony), with a bit of imagination, the new logo resembles better the modern designs for receivers :-), like:

Hello,
short update on the new logo -- based on the feedback so far, mainly over the social networking channels, nobody had a negative response to the proposal of the new logo, everyone liking it more than the existing one.
I will wait for a few more days and then we will conclude the process and switch to the new logo, if the general opinion stays unchanged.
