My setup:
I use a proxy for dialing. The proxy has a static IP
address. The callee can be behind a NAT or on a
static IP address and the call will take a long time
to connect.
I have watched the traffic at the caller end and it is
the same (long pause).
Any other possibilities?
Thank you for your time.

That all depends on your setup.
Do you use direct IP dialing or do you use a proxy?
Where is the proxy -
in your local network or somewhere in the public
internet? Where is the
callee located - same network or somewhere else? It
might be also useful
to watch the network traffic at the callees site and
at the ser proxy.

I ran ngrep -d eth0 X.X.X.X (Where X.X.X.X is my
IP
address) and I didn't get a lot of DNS
queries. I
couldn't see any activity on my IP address until I
heard a ring (after about 15-20 seconds).
What would be some other causes for this problem?
Thank you for your time.
