The only real solution to guarantee call control is to use a B2BUA as ser is 100% unaware of call status. Ser only maintains transaction state, not call state. If your SIP UAs support the Session-Expires header then they will automatically send re-INIVITES which will disconnect the call and send a BYE message to SER in the event of a failure. Hi Paul, I would actually not tend to say "the only solution" -- for PSTN accounting accuracy, which mostly matters, use of gateways with session-timer work well. Other cases to cut a call do not appear compelling to me -- in the end, phones will detect the conditions and hang up. Hi all, If my UAs doesn't have session-timer. UA_a -------- SER ---------- PSTN ---------- UA_b If the UA_a have a network crash, My PSTN gateway continue to bill my customer UA_a until UA_b have hanging up. If I am right, I have to use a B2BUA to control the integrity of the call. I have TEST B2BUA of Vovida, but it doesn't very nice! Nicolas, AFAIK, it is not mandatory for the GW itself to implement ST. You can have another SIP entities to do it. Of course, a GW that support ST is an undeniable advantage; and most of CISCO GW support this - you just have to enable it. But you need to take care in your SER config file to process correctly the re-INVITEs generated by the GW. Also, since many UAC implementations does not add the "Session-Expires" header, you will need to take care of this in your SER script. Best regards, Marian Nicolas Ruiz wrote:

Ok, I have set the minimun ST interval on the Cisco GW5300 to 60s. But If my UA don't support "Session-Expires header", if I have a crash, it's the same problem, the call is not cut ! I think I need really a B2BUA solution, that's right? Does Asterisk can be a B2BUA for billing ? Jiri, Yes I agree. I guess I just answered the question too abruptly. Thanks for the extra info. Now that I think about this more I prefer that the SIP UA supports The Session-Expires and Min-SE headers. That way SIP->SIP calls also get re-INVITEs.
