Klaus, I got it working. It was a stupid mistake. I was sending it to
the wrong route() function.

insert some more logging in your ser.cfg and watch the logging to
understand the routing of ser.
maybe the 404 is caused somewhere else? usually you produce it like:
sl_send_reply("404", "Not Found");
so where is this statement in your config file?
