Hello everyone, I've just tested version 0.9.3 running on a debian stable box, installed from .deb packages. If you try to stop or restart ser with serctl it just doesn't work. pid is not found. So you have to change the first lines of script serctl from:
PID_FILE=/var/run/ser.pid to PID_FILE=/var/run/ser/ser.pid
hope this helps, regards, Pablo.

The preferred way on debian is using the standard init.d scripts:
/etc/init.d/ser stop /etc/init.d/ser start
I created a bug and we will fix it in the next stable revision.
