Hello Jan,
Thanks.
Here is the scenario for your reference:
newton@mnlab.cti.depaul.edu----ser:140.192.37.59-----einstein@mnlab.cti.depaul.edu
This is the /usr/sbin/serctl ul show output:
I have added einstein(a)mnlab.cti.depaul.edu and newton(a)mnlab.cti.depaul.edu
instead of the ser proxy ip address as the hostid.
[root@localhost brewster]# /usr/sbin/serctl ul show

This is a different problem. username einstein is not registered with
the server. That's the reason why you get 404.
I think that you should read the admin guide (available from
http://iptel.org/ser ) and get yourself familiar with SIP first.

Here are the changes that i made to ser.cfg as per your suggestions:
# if the request is for other domain use UsrLoc
# (in case, it does not work, use the following command
# with proper names and addresses in it)
if (uri==myself) {
if (method=="REGISTER") {
# Uncomment this if you want to use digest authentication
if (!www_authorize("myself", "subscriber")) {
www_challenge("myself", "0");
break;
};
save("location");
break;
};
Please help.
Thanks,
-Darshan

What you write into the www_ functions is not that important except you
