This question is asked so often, it ought to make it
into the basic
readme.
The problem is that ser has its own mysql.so which it looks for in its
modules directory (by default, /usr/local/lib/ser/modules ). If it
doesn't find it there, it's not going to let you try and load the
module or use commands that require the module. Also, by default, the
mysql.so module isn't compiled with the rest of ser. You need to
specify that you want to compile it when you're compiling the rest
(or, if you have a package, it may not come WITH the package... in
which case, you need to grab the src code and compile it yourself with
a simple 'make modules=modules/mysql modules' command.
Once you have a functioning mysql.so compiled for ser, place it into
the /usr/local/lib/ser/modules dir and try again.
