Dear Guys,
I still need help designing my SER architecture. I have to implement
prepaid system with customized billing methods and I have been advised
to use Asterisk B2BUA.
SER and Asterisk will handle signalling, Mediaproxy will handle ALL RTP
streams.
UAc ---> SER: Auth, Loc ---> Asterisk B2BUA ---> UAs
|_____________________________|
Mediaproxy
I want to keep SER as my central SIP proxy performing user registration,
authentication and location, using Asterisk only for terminating
ongoigng calls after the credit is over. An external perl application
will calculate the time that the call should last, according to remaning
credit, Asterisk will decrement this time counter and terminate the call
when it reaches to 0.
Subtracting credit will be done in post-processing reading SER acc table.
Please advise me, by telling me if this is the correct approach and if
it possible to implement.
Thanks in advance once again.
Regards,

David,
You said this problem is not wide spread and SER is responding well to other
UAs, so what i think problem is not with SER, it is UA who is acting weird.
Thanks,
Ali.

David,
It is hard to say, unless we know your implementation or layout of your IP
network.
Are you using SER with any NAT traversal solution such as RTPProxy or
Mediaproxy?
Is your UA are behind NAT?
is anything change since you took charge or UA always loosing connections
and now you there to fix this existing problem?
Personally i never see UA looses any registration once you configure SER in
proper way. Yes, i do have these problems with Asterisk once in a while.
Is there any Firewall in midle of UA and SER?
by the way what is IAD?
Thanks Ali...

Hello,
as you could deduced from last mails, preparation for a new major
release started. The problems in the past weeks with the CVS delayed the
start.
Initial plan was to freeze the CVS last week and go in testing phase (it
will be announced very soon, once the all developers will be aware). The
target is to release the new version 1.1.0 at mid of June (one year
since OpenSER started). We will do the best to stick to that date,
although it might be postponed for a bit, if the testing phase does not
go smooth.
There were a lot of new features and improvements added to the
development branch. Delaying a new release will make hard the migration
to it.
In this testing phase we will integrate most of the patches posted on
the tracker, with special care to TLS (thanks to Klaus for his
contribution). Also, the modules will be reviewed to be aligned to new
syntaxes and internals of the core.
Just to list some of the new stuff:
- statistics support in core
- NAPTR support
- direct access to pseudo-variables via avpops
- new modules: dialog, osp, path, siptrace, statistics, unixodbc
- lot of new features in: avpops, enum, rr, tm, msilo, pdt, nathelper,
group, dispatcher, textops ... modules
To ease the migration, I have started a dokuwiki page to collect the
changes and upgrade steps:
http://openser.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=migrating_openser_v1.0.x_to_v1.1.x
Hope some of you will contribute there. Testing development branch and
feedback will be very appreciated.
Cheers,
Daniel
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded Windows messenger 5.1 (5.1.0701) from the link you sent. Unfortunately I don't see "SIP Communications Service Account" in the Accounts window.
Only 2 options (.NET Passport Account and Exchange Account)
What version do you use ?
Thanks,
ilker

* You should see mid-way down the check box for SIP Communications Service Account. Check that. and type in the sip (aor) name that you want to register into the ser (sip registrar) with. i didn't preceed it with sip: i only typed xyz(a)domain.com
* then i clicked "advanced" and checked "configure settings" and put in my hostname of the ser box.....ser.domain.com.......and then checked "udp"
that's it

Subject: [Serusers] Which IM client
Hi,
a) Can any one suggest a free IM client that I can use to test SIP+SIMPLE using the ser + presence ?
I tried with windows messenger 5.1, but it does not seems to be working with the ser + presence server configuration that I used the latest snap shot (ser-0.10.99-dev35-pa-4.1_src.tar.gz).
b) Also, can any one suggest a working sample config for presence (without using the database)?
Any suggestions on this is highly appreciated.

Suraj

Hi,
I posting for the fourth time on the row!!!! Can ANYONE answer me please!
I have installed serweb 0.9.4, ser 0.9.6, php4 with all the supports
needed, pear with DB support, apache 1.3, mysql 1.3.34. Did i miss
anything? Oh, pear Log is also installed.
Everything is working fine EXCEPT that i cannot send IM from serweb as
well as I cannot CTD from serweb. They both reply with "503 Service
Unavlailable" or sometimes its 408 Timeout. There's no documentation
or threads in the mailing list on this topic, so i cannot look up what
is wrong. All available documentation is obsolete.
SIP clients I use are eyeBeams, so they both support REFER and MESSAGE methods.
Here's /var/log/message log after trying to CTD (both clients are registered!):
May 17 16:06:35 sip /usr/local/sbin/ser[47471]: ERROR: udp_send:

Here's /var/log/message log after trying to IM:

I set log level for serweb to PEAR_LOG_DEBUG and among some normal
trace stuff i can see something like this
May 17 16:13:20 serweb [debug] Html form was not assigned to APU
apu_aliases3. Useing default.

( Is there something I forgot to set or is it just normal? I suppose
it's ok, if it's "using default"...)
ngrep trace show some empty messages from my eyeBeam to SER and
backwards. That's all.
I've been stuck with this for 4-5 days already and I REALLY need to
get it done asap. Someone... anyone... please, suggest something.
Best regards,
Andrey.
Hi all,
I'm a complete noob in using ser. But I was able to "make" ser and start it.
But when I do so I only get feedback about what port ser is listening to
etc. How can I work with ser? Where can I configure it?
Does anyone know a place where I can get like introductional information
about using ser?
Thanks a lot!
Sandybanks
btw: my version is ser-0.10.99-dev35-pa-4_src.tar.gz
